42 Rocket Surgeons dead in SE

They learned from the Paradise and Santa Rosa fires that the roof/attic vents were the cause of a lot of the resedential burn losses. The code was changed inCA at least as a result. Not as cosmic or random as posted above
Ah see? There it is.

The fire clan has found 1 new answer. The fire nation has now mandated with threat of death all must comply.

Meanwhile, the water clan raised concerns and developed massive drains and earthen dams to divert and retain the sky water. All who don't fund these projects will face death.

Those who worship the shaking ground are working through force to remove all structures which do not sway with the earth. They appeal to their neighbors to not restrain the earth. Mandates under threat of dismemberment for all who build without paying tribute to the volatile ground.

The wind clan is the most free. They find harmony is the chaos and choose inaction over action. Warning may be all that can be offered, leaving the choice to the people. Many die because of this. Freedom in the wind nation results in more death than compliance in the other nations. Wind is the strongest of the elements, unrelenting. Fewer people, by far, are able to live this way of life. Those that do are rewarded with opportunity and self direction.

Wtf are you babbling about? Life is fucking ruff and everything can damn near kill a walking bag of shit and water. Just because your dice hasn't landed on snake eyes yet doesn't mean you're somehow magically better or that it won't. In fact someone that hasn't suffered the roll of the dice really has no frame of reference to even form an opinion about stuff like this.
Fucking retarded:flipoff2:
All he said was "there autta be a law!"

:flipoff2:

I get it, people die every day …………

I understand this opinion and I even agree that people are stupid how before a storm they empty the shelves of food, water and gasoline. They should have that stuff all the time.

But then you said this.

but I'm just saying that maybe there should be better planning by local govs for these recurring events.

The government is the worst organization to do anything. Let churches or non profits set up for this if they choose. There are already “mandatory evacuations” that arnt really mandatory . I keep hearing idiots calling for them to be enforced by law. Screw that. I don’t agree with tax money going to people that don’t prepare.

Good post!

They were not predicting it to be this bad. They are calling it a 500 or 1,000 year flood in some areas.

Fuck off

Yes, they also predicted it to go right by me. If I had evacuated, my wife and I would have gone to her daughter's in Valdosta. (She has a smashed car and no power right now. I had zero damage.

All he said was "there autta be a law!"

:flipoff2:

That was enough. He can call me a dumb Florida man, but he can keep his laws in CA because we all know how good that is working out.

Well I see I've reached my target audience.. :flipoff2::laughing:

All he said was "there autta be a law!"

:flipoff2:

If you're referring to me, let's see where I said there should be a law. I'll wait.

I almost pointed it out when he said it but I will now.
That piece of shit has been out of CA for decades now and he still thinks those thoughts. It's a remarkable illustration of how you can take a :mr-t: from the hood but can't take the hood from a :mr-t:.

Strawman strikes again. Your state has been a liberal shithole for far longer than CA. I left CA 30 years ago because I didn't like the direction it was headed, and as it turned out, it ended up even worse.

Of course people should have a plan and supplies. I do, and don't live where there is threat of Hurricane, Tornado, Flooding or Earthquake...sure gets hot here.:flipoff2:

Churches? Maybe as an evacuation center if they have the facilities.

Again, I haven't lived in CA for a very long time, I left that shit behind.

Paraphrased the whole government should prepare and help us out and save us! Statement you made :flipoff2:

Government can't do anything without laws, it's how they function :homer:

Plan all you want and it increases your odds. Sometimes luck is on your side. Sometimes it isn’t. The fact that Roc Doc can’t see this is odd. Rarrr, I am such a good driver, no accidents since 11 years old. Doesn’t help when someone runs a very red light and t-bones you. You can’t control all the variables in life.

Government is rarely the answer.

Never said that I don't understand that sometimes shit happens, I'm just saying that people should be better prepared, or not live in swampland, or below sea level, or in a river bottom, or on a fault line, or surrounded by tinder. I see "accidents" all the time, I wonder how many of them could have been prevented with more SA.
Yea, they did such a good job protecting us during the Covid BS.
And churches too, don't forget how churches protected us during Covid.

Maybe you should get off your high horse.

Yeah, that's the misleading thing about that term, many people think it won't happen again for 500 or 1000 years.

the Media does it for sensationalism. Plus it's much harder to explain what those terms mean in percentage of probability.

I was surprised to see places like Asheville, NC get so flooded. Anyone not right near the coast was probably not expecting what’s happening. Too many times the weather reporters way over exaggerate like most media. So if 9 times out of 10 their sky is falling predictions turn into a nothing burger, of course you get caught with your pants down that ONE time.

I've seen confirmed reports of 16" and some unconfirmed of 26" or more. I would image there's a huge portion of the country that would be fucked if they saw that kind of rainfall in such a short period of time. Being a hilly/mountainous area makes it even worse. 16" of rainfall across the mountains could turn in to the equivalent of 40" in the valleys.

I believe we got 14” or 24” in two days this year in the spring. My whole swamp flooded the road, but surprisingly this area handled it rather well.

However, if we had those mountains, we’d be fucked. 30”-36” and we’d be fucked here.

Or in a desert where the population outstrips the natural water resources…

There is the simple mistake of. Or being prepared. In a 500 or 1000 year flood, it makes sense that many weren’t planning for that. Shit happens.

What is frustrating is when people end up in a relatively frequent disaster - tornado, etc. - who go out and get what they need at demand-inflated prices.

And then two-four weeks later are selling that stuff online for 1/2 price because they no longer need it.

Or worse - trying to return it.

Because they no longer need it or it takes too much room in the garage….. and the cycle starts over.

I saw a graph that showed 3 days rain avg was +36" of rain...

That's pretty good amount

There should be better planning on these risk prone areas.
No doubt. The .gov always falls short. And to the person, it depends on the person.
Old grandpa in woods, doesn't watch the news, doesn't do social media. Just lives.
He's been through 75 years of storms and seen the worst and been prepped for it. But this one turned out to be much worse than the previous worst.
BOOM. He's gone.

Yea, they did such a good job protecting us during the Covid BS.
Epidemic or emergency me harder, please.
It's fun to lose our rights because they said there's a boogeyman out there.

They say 13” of rain here. Normally my yard would create something like a spring and be draining for days or a week following a big rain. None of that for this event.

Friend of my wife's family lost everything in Asheville, house and cars wiped off the map from what I understand.

Not all people have the means or options you think they do.
Some folks have nothing better than to hunker down and ride it out and hope for the best.
No need to shit on them when their dice come up craps.
Take that attitude to the 3rd world retards in the DRT thread.
In addition... meteorologists love sensational journalism to the point where they have lost credibility.

Tracking is FREQUENTLY wrong, and storms are as frequently blown out of proportion.

Anecdotal story to remind everyone.

Houston was supposed to be in direct path of Hurricane Rita (2005)
The entire city evacuated... MASSIVE gridlock ensued. The Gridlock resulted in many deaths of people just stuck in traffic in the heat, ran out of fuel, no where to get any, issues with medications and such... Clusterfuck doesn't even begin to cover it...
And the storm turned, and Houston ended up on the clean side, and barely got any rain.

Yeah... after that... I rarely ever consider evacuation...
