3.0 ranger issues

I've been looking at this too long... What should I be LEARNING here - i.e. what's really wrong?

When I overhauled this engine 20K miles ago It threw no codes, so I would think that meant the cam was in right, valves were good, etc.

Thoughts?

Welp..... valve issues... exhaust valves sunk into the head and not closing all the way.

At the machine shop now for new valve seats and exhaust valves.

Now I have a work trip both of the next 2 weeks... CA and NYC... not looking forward to either, but needs to be done.

Machine shop Stood behind their prior work and did new seat inserts and did the valves.

Zero charge and a lot of apologies.

I've bought 2 3.0 Rangers so far that didn't run right, both had exhaust valve problems. I think it's quite common.
