What's new

2024 KRX 1000 ES

I probably need to check this on my KRXs but I'm a bit 'tarded when it comes to coilovers. Do the replacement caps offer any advantage over just installing schraders on all 4 like yours is now?
They say “extra capacity” but that’s nothing in my mind. The biggest thing is that they don’t leak and can be recharged

Update. I attempted to use a needle to check one shock. Turns out that the live valve shocks don’t have the rubber plug like other shocks I’ve dealt with. There is just a screw and an o-Ring in there.

I ordered a set of marked motorsports caps.

I’d like to know how Fox even charges them from the factory.

I ended up scabbing one of the schrader valves from my needle fill kit and tapping the cap to 1/8 NPT so one shock has pressure in it.
the non-live valves are identical with the screw and Oring. I too have no clue how they heck Fox is charging them.

It would be extremely easy to drill and tap the stock caps for a good schrader so buying new caps isnt totally needed. I got the SRS extra capacity caps because the schrader is more protected.
my driver front was empty and pass front barely had anything. 85 total miles.

another option for DIY

I guess I should explain a little bit. I ordered the caps from Marked Motorsports and they called me almost immediately and told me that they were waiting for another run of caps to show up and that shipping would be delayed. Good on them for at least letting me know. I decided to add the schrader valves now once I knew I could find them locally so that the KRX could be ready regardless if the caps show up in time. Once they get here I’ll swap them real quick and recharge everything. Honestly I’m only swapping them so that the schrader valve has some protection by the cap they come with. The front ones especially seem to be in a bad spot for something to knock one off. But for now it’s good to go. Thanks again for you guys pointing out the nitrogen issues. In my head I knew it could have been a problem but I just didn’t see it in the moment.

That right there will make me look to them when I get ready to order caps, hard to find good customer service these days.

Not much to update. I’m really happy with the KRX cruising around at KOH. I’ve had it up to 65mph in some decent whoops and it just eats it up. We crawled around a few side trails tonight and the low speed control is really nice. It’s so much better than the General XP I had that you can’t even compare the two.

Late to the game on this thread, but I might have a valued opinion. I own an ATV rental company and have run all machines in question. Hands down, KRX. Others are right, it's not as powerful. However, you can throw a simple clutch kit in it and it will pep up off the line much better. If you're like most people and you'll only ride a handful of times a year, I don't think it matters which machine you go with. If you ride hard and often, you need to stay the HELL away from CanAm and Polaris (especially Polaris). The frames suck and crack all over the place, the transmissions in the Polaris are horrible. The 3rd stage top bearing is a real problem. Above all, the clutches suck beyond imagination in the Polaris. They did suck in the Can-Am, but Can-Am came out with a new clutch for 2022 that is much better. Still not on par with the KRX though. If you do get a KRX, there are some things you MUST have:
Skid Plate --- The steel under the transmission only sits about 3/4" below it. It's thin metal and if you catch a rock hard in that area, it will bend and crack your tranny. I've had this happen on 2 of my KRX's at under 1000 miles.
Front frame brace --- The control arms are heavy duty. heavy duty enough that if you accidentally catch a tree with a tire, you could tweak your frame (Kawasaki doesn't sell the frame). Super ATV makes a damn nice frame brace, but you'll have to modify your skid plate. Marked Motorsports sells a number of special parts for the KRX. They do King of Hammers with the KRX and know their shit. They have an upper control arm brace kit.

That said, the KRX is a MUCH better machine in every department, minus shear power. Although, I think it rock crawls better than any of them. Let me put it to you this way, I have had the Polaris and Can-Am direct rental program deals where I get machines at a much cheaper price, highly discounted parts, and full support from the companies. They are very sweat deals. I walked away from them and went to Kawasaki. I'll never look back. Kawasaki is the only machine made 100% in the U.S. and it was actually designed here as well. Can-Am and Polaris are made in Mexico and they spend more money on marketing than they do R&D. So, get a better machine and support American products and workers.

That guy knows what he's talking about.

I'm a Honda fanboi through and through but if I were to buy a SxS strictly for crawling/trail riding, hands down it would be a KRX.

Didn’t know where to post this. But I knew you guys would be impressed with my further slide into ridiculousness. Haven’t used them out on the trail yet. But it should be a huge hit with the wife at least.

Looks like a great time.
How does the rzr 800 do? Seems you guys ride together often.
He’s out here fighting for his fucking life lol. He gets around just fine with it and it’s not that bad. He just doesn’t have the suspension to run the speed I can. 10 years difference in technology is a lot

That's what I figured. But good to hear from a reliable source. :usa:

KOH was awesome.
One snag we hit was when we stopped in Amarillo to pick up another guy and to catch some sleep some **** stole all the trail tool and recovery bags out of the back of the KRX and the RZR. luckily the owner of the RZR heard them fucking around and was able to run down out of the hotel and the thieves took off before they cleaned the truck out too. I now need to start from scratch and put together new kits. what is everyone else using? I had two Titan tool bags from Brennans Garage full of cheap tools from Walmart and HF as well as supplies that I really liked but he is sold out of the bags for now.
We sure did learn a lesson about shitty people.

Man that sucks ass. I won't stop on the road at hotels when traveling with my RZR on the trailer. I have had good luck getting the cheap cabins at KOAs. When I make the reservations I tell the owners (I believe that KOA are all independently owned franchises) that I need a place to park a big trailer with my SXSs on it. They have no issue with it and I feel the campgrounds are a bit safer. I have not had anyone mess with anything staying at them. :knocks on wood.

Well damn, thieves piss me off more than about anything else. I keep all my stuff in packout boxes on the back of the KRX but bring them inside the room if I have to stop at a hotel.

Also, I don't know what it is about Amarillo, but every time I have stopped there on a trip something shitty happens.

I had a nice stock of stuff to get me out of a bind. Ive been building up an amazon list this week at work to replace it all. luckily they didnt get in the bags behind my seats and I still have my Dewalt inflator and my 3/8 impact.

Damn, I’m sorry to hear that. We’ve been very lucky on this. Someone once even tried to steal our whole trailer (found the trailer lock cut off), but must have gotten interrupted. Anyway, even then, they didn’t raid the storage box on it. Maybe you need a trash bag with a few crushed beer cans as the first thing they see on opening the box? 🤷‍♂️

Please don’t get a 7’ wide box. I watched my buddy struggle to tie down his old 60” rzr in one of those, and it requires acrobatics. I’d insist on 8-1/2’ wide. And for the love of God, if you’re ever going to pull an 8-1/2’ wide trailer in an RV at any point in the future—you need an extended tongue.

Go buy a www.celltech-trailer.com!! Or at least call them and figure out if they offer extended tongue, and how the heck they insulate. Because other than those questions (that I’ve been too lazy to ask for pure curiosity) that looks like the one to buy!

I've been riding technical rock trails with a krx for a few years now. Skeptical would have been a understatement but it surprised me.
Only thing he did was bolt on 35's and skids.
Only time it ever broke (snapped axle)was pinned between two jeep size boulders and caught traction at full throttle. Totally avoidable and I saw it coming. We drove out and rode the rest of the weekend in three wheel peel.
