What's new

2004 LB7 Evolution

More progress. Hours working on the truck but it seems like I get nothing done. More of the bed cage, new rear are fully installed and rear brakes just need the new stainless steel lines. Lots of finish welding left as well as stripping it down for paint and wiring. All that will wait until after fuel cell gets here and mounted.

Great job so far! Ima steal some of that bed cage design.

Did you mention what fuel cell you're using? I'll need one of those as well and haven't found anything i like for the price. I could spend over 2k and get the custom one i want though...:rolleyes:Not really into that though:laughing:

Nice work on the back half and tubing.. Why the bend in the upper rear arms, clearance for fuel tank or something?
:smokin:

The bend in the arms was for fuel tank clearance and to relieve joint angle due to frame width and mount design. Also added a bed floor frame, a hitch/winch tie in and tank lower support. Ended up with 50 gallons of fuel sitting as low as possible, 1/2' of clearance at failure full bump and 1" of clearance where i am limiting it with the hydraulic bumps.

Looking fantastic man! I don't think it was obvious that the bend in the upper arms wasn't just in the flat plane. Now that I see them from the side view, it makes a lot more sense that they're bent to clear the fuel tank at full stuff.

In the test and tune phase. Modified the merchant automotive 263 brace to work with the 273. Removed the harmonic balancer from the yolk. Dropped tcase and resealed everything due to a drip, I dont like drips. Notched the frame for the coilovers at full articulation. Still lots more to do but its driving and little things now.

I have not been able to test it in the rocks. We forklift tested it for clearances and got that ironed out. It does still do 90+ nicely and tracks straightish. Have a little more noise and vibration now that that portions of the tube work run through the cab and the rear is now johnny joints and heims. Needed an alignment before the swap due to bending the tierod on the last trail and still needs that. Plus the 17 oz's of BB's was not enough to fully balance the 39" Kanatis but those problems existed before. Wanting to step up in tires so havent addressed these yet. I have run it low speed in the desert a little but I still need to install front hydraulic bumps before anything with speed as well as installing the rear limit straps.

I was able to get the 37” Togo’s to balance glass smooth on these bead locks with 15oz of BB’s. I have a 4wd alignment in 2 hours to make sure everything is square. I will ask them about the static balancing then.

Might of missed it. Who’s truss did you use on the AAM? Or did you fab that one?

I want to hear about the t-cases ;)

Any updates on this rig? I’d like to know about the tcases as well
