The title lines it up, here's my question.

Why oh why did the 14 bolt pans and 20 bolt pans use a different interlock? (I know, "because Ford")

Since I am asking questions, why do the new ones come with 11 pins and the OE had 12?

All of the aftermarket and replacement parts only seem to have 11 pins.
 
God forbid you simply jumper the relevant pair of wires in the harness. :shaking:
 
I know this may shock you, but I don't live in the frozen north, or the middle of nowhere. While I am not frivolous with money (this is a 26 year old truck we are discussing) but I don't mind spending a little for the right parts to fix something. I see no reason to hack a wiring harness and cobble things together when the right part will fix the issue.
