Then started cleaning out the cab of decades of mouse and other critter crap.:barf:

Got the seat bottom out and other big chunks and then grabbed the shop vac.

The driver's door wouldn't open and the window was rolled up so I vacuumed as much as I could and then grabbed a dirty pair of coveralls turned inside out for some protection while I went in the passenger side and got the driver's window down.

Copious amounts of PB Blaster inside the door aimed at the latch and working both the inner and outer handles back and forth got the door open.

Some more PB on the seat back pins along with a small hammer got the seat back out.

Next up was the roof, I didn't see them when I looked at it but it had some pretty good dents along the back half.

A few minutes with a dead blow and it looks good from 10 feet, run your hand over it and it's got more waves than a Pacific typhoon. Lost a few pieces of paint but that's OK.

Did another vacuum of the interior because lots of stuff came down when I was hammering. The "haul" for the day.

Went to the front and removed the state of art radiator screen. Good thing it was on there because two of the chrome grill pieces fell off when I did, the screen was the only thing keeping them with the truck.

And some treasure I found cleaning the cab. The wrench was under the seat and the red marble reflector was on the driver's floor. The orange reflector came off the bed when I dismantled it.

Well this next week if work isn't crazy busy I hope to get the KB body off and drag the chassis out of the way. And then start on stripping the Dodge of its cab and flatbed. The wheels should be here the first half of September. Oh yeah my Tuesday job last week had to reschedule and with the triple digit temps I took most of the day off and went to MT for a 320k mile Cummins P pump 12 valve that burns lots of oil but just had the pump gone through. Anyone guess where I'm going with this? Paid $1900 for it!

Bitchin build!! What’s the trans plan?
I need that marble reflector for my ‘42 Dodge WC53 Carryall. I’m building a ‘40 Dodge 1 1/2 ton on a ‘97 Cummins 4x chassis, with the flat bed that’s on the ‘40. I started working on it yesterday, finally.

Very desperate to find a locking wheel hub for my 1600 loadstar. If anyone has any leads would be appreciated. Seem like an impossible part to find

What's the internal spline specs?

What's the interior bolt circle?

Knowing it's for a Loadstar won't help anyone who has one on the shelf because those axles were used under god knows whatever else.

man, $1900 for a worn out, stinky, heavy, loud turd. :shaking:
Sadly, that's a DEAL for a 12v up in this corner of the country. Most I find are 3-5k and come with a clapped out buss wrapped around it still. I gave up on Cummins swapping any of my junk a long time ago.

We need an update, G!
It's cold! Are you able to go ice skating out your front door yet?

No updates yet. I'll probably start tearing into it again when it warms up a little bit. I did order all the glass, weather stripping, and interior panels/headliner for it.

I probably could. The river was liquid yesterday, today it isn’t.

Looks like an awesome project.

Waited this evening until it was in the shade.

Hoods came off first, then I had to remove the bumper/grill surround, and then the grill/radiator. How it looks now.

I had to grind the heads off the bumper bolts as the nuts were one with their bolts, even after heat they didn't want to come off.

Tomorrow I'll work on the fenders and cab. I have a fellow IH enthusiast that is taking the chassis along with some other 50s IH axles/stuff I'm getting rid of, supposed to come get it Friday if I'm ready.

Started on it this morning around 7 before it got hot. Cut the nuts on the 6 lower bumper bolts and off it came.
20240705_074157.jpg

Next came both front fenders, had to grind the head off one of the right fender to running board bolts.
20240705_081230.jpg

And both fenders are off.
20240705_093327.jpg

Started getting wires, cables, hoses, etc cut that go from cab to chassis.
20240705_093340.jpg

And started pulling the winch off my S180 oil field winch bed, it will be hung off the front.
20240705_092029.jpg

And it got hot and the wife wanted to go get a coffee. I'll work on cab removal this evening.

Plan B is back on the table. I've decided the chassis this is going on will be my 1993 Ford F Superduty with a 4x4 conversion. I think it's an ex-Davey Tree truck based on the color of the remains of the chip box. It's got a Dana 70 front, Dana 80 rear and a dump bed. I'll be pulling my steam cleaner out this weekend and doing some cleaning of the chassis and other parts.

What about the teeny tiny 235/85/16 tires in those KB fenders? Well I got a plan for that. Should have some pics of the plan at the end of the month.

:beer:Curious, is that 80 rear 37 spline? Is the 70 front 35 spline in and out?

Went to work on the KB cab and got the floor pans out, had to grind three bolt heads off.

I have the front cab mounts on each side and then the rear cab mount in the middle to unbolt and then I can pick her off her old frame. Probably got a fuel line or two and a wire or so but she'll be off by the end of the weekend.

Going to work on stripping the F Superduty chassis of unwanted parts and steam clean it too this weekend.

Still not sure what transfercase I'm going to run, except that it will be divorced as my Cummins/NV5600 is 2x4 and I'm not going to open it up to change the output. I have divorce 205s in both Dodge and IH flavors, also a 202, and a Rockwell T223 from a Loadstar. Kind of leaning towards the Rockwell but will need to check fitment of it.

And I have a name for this, Nordby. Look at the drivers door and you can make out Merrill Nordby, Mansfield WA and a brand. I bought the truck in Mansfield and when I google Nordby Ranch Mansfield WA I get some obituaries and other items under Nordby, haven't found Merrill yet but next time I go up there for work I'll ask around. The passenger door is faded out, must have been on the sunny side. Hopefully I can get a personalized license plate when I register it next spring.

And hopefully I'll be driving it next June to the IH Nationals in Springfield OH.:grinpimp:

And I bolted the cab mounts and finished cutting all the wires I could find. And we have lift off.
20240706_191748.jpg

Forgot the horn wire, it was surprisingly stubborn. Also I thought the gas tank went with the body, nope, just the fill neck. But I didn't even know that until the cab was off and the tank was staring at me attached to the frame. All the rubber on this is so hard you bend it and it breaks.
20240706_193921.jpg

Swung it over and cribbed it up until I get the donor chassis cleaned up some.
20240706_195531.jpg

Unbolted the rear cab mount crossmember as I plan on reusing it.
20240706_195034.jpg

Tomorrow I'm removing the running boards and brackets and the hydrovac for another project. As she sits tonight.
20240706_195700.jpg

It's hot today, I know you desert dwellers think 90s are nothing. Cut the rivet heads off the running board brackets and and used my air hammer with a rivet removal bit to knock them out.
20240707_110244.jpg

20240707_140413.jpg

And drug the chassis out to the front. Got someone picking it up Friday afternoon.
20240707_140445.jpg

It was hot today. I took the axles off the bed and raised it.
20240709_202742.jpg

Got a crack to weld up, which I knew about.
20240709_202710.jpg

And found both tank sending units were pulled or at least the lock ring was off and they weren't put back together. I'll need to fix that before the chassis gets a bath.
