Ive been reading there for a while when i started taking cars here and there and whatnot with my old ramptruck..Those guys seem to be straight up and they dont sell the bs that other slingshot boards do.. Its enough to keep me away from doing it full time with my new truck..:smokin: Im at the age and point where i cant make mistakes in my income choices:smokin:

Didn't know you were a lurker over there. The Internet is a small world!

I'm daydreaming about that new truck. I hope the devil I don't know doesn't screw me, which I know it could, but I'm really excited for some non-rotted tin and quiet power, and near doubling the MPGs.Last Minute Motorsports

If you were at a race in the last two years, chances are very good. I codrive 571, and we only missed a couple races. That might deserve past tense, 572 is under construction and is a single seater.

new ride is a '07 quad cab cab & chassis with a 9.5' CM flatbed on it. 6.7/6sp/4x2, white. NC truck, no rust. many many new parts 30k ago, has 350k on it. Was a hot shot truck. Looks like new. I don't want to wait the 2.5 weeks that I scheduled myself for.Last Minute Motorsports

New trucks are too quiet for the RTOO and it has 3.42 gears so I don't need tall OD. I'll look for an RTLO next time - helical cut gears.

2500 QC short bed has no heart. It's getting a 12v. It was born a CR5.9 and some gasoline in the tank took the rings out. It's my buddy's, for his wife. He's got a twin to my 97 (that he's doing tranny work on but no Eaton yet).

No head pull yet.

I DD an 87 Eagle, and I've got an 84 parts car 258/4speed and the white 84 that I think you see is a 258/auto and needs a motor. I want to do either a 5.3/4l60/231 or a 4.0/5sp/231 and put it on 33 ATs or 31 muds of some sort.Last Minute Motorsports

For the longest time I wondered why they didn't do away with o/d and just gear the light duty trucks higher with a lower gear spread. Finally figured it out, low reduction gears are heavy and beat the shit out of synchros.

With the 3.42s I'd bet it cruises nice in direct.
Thanks for the cool thread full of pics, please make another when you get around to the RTLO.SaveShare

5th in my g56 has a chipped tooth judging from noise under load and the tooth fragment I found when I changed the oil. It definitely would tow Really well in direct but it gets noisy when towing under about 1700 so it doesn't get used much. The power band of the 6.7 is flat and fat so it doesn't make too much difference.Last Minute Motorsports

And then typed "Rto-9513" into the search box. The third item on the page is an excel spreadsheet titled "Ratio Chart - Legacy Products". Downloaded it and verified that the RTO-9513 was there!
Good luck!SaveShare

The G56 in my new truck continues to make some unhappy noises in 5th, I really should start looking at those ratios and weights and ratings and sizes again.

I talked to the guy that I sold my swap to, he was to the point of trimming the motor mount to fit the starter about 10 days ago so hopefully she's back on the road here soon.Last Minute Motorsports

Is top gear .74 or .86 on those? If it's the former, it's probably the perfect trans as far as ratios go. I think the .62 in the RTOO in this topic is a bit excessive and overly noisy from the vids I've seen.

The ratio chart is on Eaton's website but it appears everything is in Excell spreadsheets these days and I don't have a program to open those with on this laptop.SaveShare

On the whole I'd rather make up for it in the axle than in the trans but it's easier said than done when you have deep gears to start. I didn't want to do a trans AND gears so with the 4.10s in the old truck the double over was just what the doctor ordered.Last Minute Motorsports

I got an old 5-speed Spicer for my '90 Dodge but haven't been able to find a cheap flywheel housing (or flywheel for that matter). I have a #3 housing which is more than enough room for the kind of clutch I'd need, but the Spicer clutch housing is #2 and I don't think I'll be able to find a #3 for it. I haven't even tried calling a big truck junkyard since I just can't imagine that having the parts pulled would be anywhere near my price range (I got the trans itself for $50).
I have been considering that swap myself. I don't think the CM5052 is really all that different from the SM 465.SaveShare

Theyre pretty similar in ratios, the 5052 is just bigger. If you need to double clutch a 5052 the syncros are smoked and they really arent cheap to overhaul because of the syncros. Same deal with any of the 7 speed spicers. A roadranger sliding clutch otoh is about $40. Bearing and seal kits are like $600.God Bless AmericaSaveShare

One done. 15 pages and 1.5 of effort and moved over some broken images. Seems like a waste of time having done that, but I think it was by far my most popular build on Pirate so it seems like I should at least get the content here ...

Thanks for moving that over here. A good chunk of the pics no longer work, and I would like to upgrade mine

It'll take a fair bit more work to put pictures back in - if there's any thread I'll make the effort on, it's this thread though. Not a lot of down time with a new house and new shop to devote to that!
