45acp's 30x40 shop rebuild

No, I'm not happy with the size at all.

Wifh that said- my previous shop was 30x110. I had a 30x60 in the middle, high bay, badass wood stove in the middle, a 30x40 extra shop/barn off one side and a 30x10 lawnmower shed off the other side. It was my dream come true and something I'll probably never have again.

This shop is stick built, 9ft ceiling, one lone 7x16 door, and a 9x13 bathroom.... that happens to be right where a 2nd door needs to be.

An open, tall ceiling 30x40 with 2 big doors (or 3 small ones) I'd be happy with. BUT, I'm in the process of building other sheds/buildings to keep **** in. If its 30x40, and I've got to park all my junk in it with no other outside storage, then 30x40 is a no go.

No matter what build a 30x60.

My first shop was 30x50, second was 40x60, new one is 50x80.
All of them are too small the second you get them done, I keep accumulating stuff which doesnt help.

Honestly the 30x110 was perfect. It was huge, but not so big it kept my hoarder tendencies in check. Having it all separated was awesome because I could park all my junk in the "barn" side and have an open 30x60.

Been on a "spring cleaning" run here lately, and also getting some more stuff done... figured id stop posting this in random threads and put it all here.

Threw some shelves up on the little corner that used to be the closet for the apartment-

Decided to do gutters on the front. Didn't want them, but the sill rotted out on the man door. Makes sense, the roof runoff isn't dripping into shrubs or grass, its dripping into sb2 gravel. The splash back is pretty wild.

Went with the plastic cheap ****, found out later I didn't really save any money over paying a pro to do it with custom bent aluminum.

Went with extra hangers to try and prevent the sag.

Next project is build 2 cabinets

Long story short, about 25yrs ago (when I was poor and had a 2car garage as a shop) I bought a random storage cabinet at Lowes. A few years later I bought another one. When we moved in 2015 they did fine, but moving here in 2018 did them in. I saved the doors thinking one day ill just build new cabinets and hang the doors on them.

They're gonna be 16" deep and im using mostly crap ive had laying around. Got 1 boxed in so far. Figure ill paint them flat black.

Dunno if they painted the bottoms as well, but you may want to turn them over so that in 20 years you can turn them back to the 'child painted version' to bring back memories.

They painted the bottoms too. Also, it was a learning experience for dad... as I was reminded you have to be very specific about every detail with these little hyper ass bastards... long story short they've got like 10 cans of spray paint and daughter is all "hey Bentley let's vandalize these- we get to be vandals today! Six seven six seven!!!" or whatever she was saying- i wasn't really paying attention. Next thing i know we've got an LOL tree in front of the shop. In their (her) defense, I never said they couldn't paint the tree.

We had a long talk about paint and maybe asking mom or dad anytime you have a cool idea. I got it covered up/ blended in with some black and gray primer.

Pic is not too bad, it was way more noticeable to the eye

How I picture things...

A razor blade takes care of the itinerant 'p' .

just saying....

Nah... I think crossing out the "P" makes the statement.
