Skully's ****box

Good to know. My kids are getting big and I’m thinking about how to make this bigger. I think I’ll take the rear bench and car seats out and put one suspension seat in the back and then two up front maybe.

But I’ve seen one flat fender on a Roxor frame and one early CJ5 on a Roxor and the whole concept seems pretty cool.
They are a lot longer than the older jeep stuff. Wheelbase is actually a couple inches longer than a TJ.

What are you gaining with the roxor swap? It's almost the same drivetrain/suspension and similar body.

Either just rock the roxor as is, or stretch the Sami as is.

It’s just some bench racing. I would gain Dana 44’s front and rear, longer WB. Putting the Sammy body on it would make it street legal

Ya, they're probably better than the Sami axles, but not by much imo. Modeled after old ass jeeps.

Engine is a 55hp diesel
:lmao:

Didn't realize Oregon couldn't drive sxs's on the street, lame.

Ya, idk, seems like somewhat lateral move and I'm not anti roxor, they're cool for what they are, just can't see doing all that work for what you'd get vs just stretching the Sami and having $4500 to spend on much better axles than those.

Now, the Sami body'd rzr'd I can see being a blast.

or hell i sell the samurai, buy a ***led bare cj5 and a roxor and make them kith

this whole turbo idea has really set me back

I’ve relocated and moved the power steering reservoir too many times and cut and rewelded the fittings so much, nothing seals right any more and it just leaks like crazy.

I’ve modified this particular fitting too much and it just doesn’t seal worth a **** now

I am tossing the metal Toyoda PS reservoir I keep reusing and ordered a plastic one for a tundra

Also ordered a used track/kick pump from eBay for a spare fitting.

Tired of working on this turd. I want to wheel this summer.

Oil pan bung for the turbo return got capped but it still leaks like crazy. Now I gotta deal with that somehow or order another oil pan.

:shaking::shaking::shaking:

Don’t know……Probably my weld

I ordered another pan but i might spooge silicone on it in the meantime.

I had a perfectly good, running driving crawler 6mo ago.

Why the f did I mess with that?

I noticed it burns oil now, either that’s just residual **** that hopefully goes away or something in the motor is unhappy now.

**** this car just want to get thru summer and then winter I can swap in my spare higher comp Swift engine.

PM sent crisbee1

I also sold my spare rear Indian axle housing to a club buddy who bent his. Might sell my spare front housing since I’m going to get Toyota axles from my pops.

It's much harder than you would expect to get mig welds to seal if you haven't done it much.

Guessing you blew oil all through the intake as well?

I also get your frustration. Sami's are fun and hold a place in my heart, but they seem to be needy. Either something is broke or you're always chasing an upgrade. I'm glad mine is more of a back burner rig as it makes me not want to mess with it since it just works as is. But evertime I actually wheel it, I get a list of 50 things I'd want to change

yeah i love samurais but i feel like i was past the point of constantly tinkering with it. but then i realized how much of last summer i spent doing EFI and changing springs lol

i don't think i'll ever be in a position to have a gucci crawler that is just turn key and ready to go at a moments notice and i wont feel the need to fix or change anything. just have to accept that.

guys with real ****boxes that are held together with booger welds and mechanics wire have more fun

Ya, it's part of the fun, or at least that's what you have tell yourself.

The problem with the samurai is we often want the to be something they aren't. They are great when they're about like yours and mine are or even more mild. But then you end wanting power and comfort and to climb stuff

They're also pretty awesome as the base for a bigger crawler, just takes a crazy amount of work to get there.

Cancelled the tundra reservoir when I realized cheaper options were available at Oreilly.

I think this is for a Honda Odyssey, 20ish dollars. Fabbed up a quick mount.

Wheeling event this weekend I really want to attend so need to thrash this week.

Got it back together.

Out of ps fluid though. Need to pull it out of the garage and bleed it/cycle it.

Anyone see a problem with using Wally World tractor hydro fluid instead of ps fluid?

Hydro fluid should be fine.

I did noticed it seem to overheat easier compared to royal purple ps fluid, but was also in a heavier rig.

Did I miss the story on the free pallet of purple paint?

hydro fluid is much cheaper and it looks the same as the walmart brand ps fluid.

i had a vw baja bug several years ago and bought several cans of bright blues, purples (daughter's idea), orange, etc to test what color i wanted to paint it. i went with Kubota orange.

but one of the cans of purple i bought was VHT engine paint and i really like using VHT engine paint for brackets, etc. since it dries so fast and sticks really good and lasts a long time. when i'm out of purple i buy some detroit diesel green or ford blue lol

actually that detroit diesel apline green is one of my favorite colors. might paint my whole sammy that color:dustin:

I once got a couple of cases of the VHT purple engine paint for really cheap... Was gonna mark up a lot of company tools so as to not "grow legs"... I found out why it was so cheap... It painted in spit and splatters... Defective cans... All our tools looked like some one puked purple on them.. BUT, they stayed OUR tools...

I bought a few cans of exhaust paint (vht irrc) i went back and swapped the cans twice before I figured out that you really have to shake the **** out of the cans (heat helps too) to prevent spatter and the nozzles clogging.

I’m legit goin to spray the whole rig Detroit Diesel Alpine Green

I had a buncha miss-mixed purple enamel brush on paint I got for free in college, definitely a few transmissions and transfer cases got painted with it lol

Uncle Tony on YouTube paints all his engines with brush on Rustoleum

I've been trying brush on lately with the price of rattle cans. If you aren't too worried about looks or dry time, you can lay it on thick as ****

thats how i did the baja bug, roller'd on some Kubota Orange tractor paint. turned out good and lasted.

wonder if that alpine green is available in a roll/brush on....

yeaaaaahhhh!!!!

its like an old VW color.

i dunno. obviously im a bit off :flipoff2:

1. PS is all back together, non leaking and working 100% again

2. i spray painted a test patch of the body in the detroit green......yah maybe the juice is not worth the squeeze on that

3. fixed the oil pan turbo bung leak with a blob of silicone. have a new pan coming in the mail but i'll put that on the back burner

4. drove to the store and it is all good to go and stopped smoking
