1962 Mercury ADHD build

Another more redneck/cowboy solution would be to use the thicker rubber horse trailer mats cut to fit the floorpan. Still hose out and can be easily removed. Bonus points if they have **** on them already.

should be in the shop working on this but went on the local toy run instead and was a great day, was fluffy snow with hard crust under it so just had to power plow it. Broke trail for a while after thinking i was back of the pack and passed a few rigs. Had issues with pass front tire going flat again so will have to bust that one down again and rotate it as think its an inner bead issue. other then that truck ran well but really need to swap the trans out so this was last trip for a while

think the last of my parts showed up so hopefully have time over the holidays to start pulling the truck apart.

Picked up some used seats from a Granpix as the race seats suck in the truck as lost leg rooms and have to take the steering wheel off every time getting in or out and thats getting old pretty fast

took advantage of Summit racings black friday and got a set of coils and some parts for the motor as going to once over the 302 and toss a B303 cam in it to hold me over till i can build the 351 the way i want

before pulling the motor i took a look at the crossmember and looks like i can chop it a fair bit to make room for the axle. when i built the motor mounts it did move the motor up but have lots of room

once i had them all together i noticed one valve wasnt quite right. the top of the valve is shorter then the rest. guessing it was a mistake at the machine shop and would explain why the 351 had a cylinder that wasnt firing and had almost no run time on it. going to be lazy and lap a new valve in and hope for the best

Port work on exhaust side is well worth the time.
Since your into valves, Have you considered bowl cleanup? Even just exhaust side?
thought about it but didnt go that far and would have to order some more bits to do the bowels so will call it good for now and hopefully be able to have the heads on the motor this week

picked up a valve from the local parts store and looks little different but measured the same so lapped it last night and looked good. put that spring back in and water tested it and didnt loose any over a few hours so will call it good enough

Not much for an update as only gotten a few small things done. Right after the last post i had to say goodbye to my shop helper and best pup of 10.5 years. Shelby was the best shop helper and he was always down for a nap on his bench seat in the shop while i worked

Oh wow ok that's a big difference :smokin:
probably didnt need to do it as tires will get into the body before diff will make contact with crossmember but cleaned up the look a bit. was temped to cut the whole thing out and make a new one but that would have been over kill
