Trailing arm process.
These (and new subframe) sparked off the need to get off the porch and invest in legit welding tables a year ago.
The tube inserts of choice are these LH 1.75x.375 units I’ve had laying around since the project started. Made in SLC by Midnight 4x4. Beefier than the RuffStuff supplied inserts.
The work order of these arms will be tedious.
Fashioned up some pinch bolt tubes/hardware with scribed cut line. Tube adapters are interference fit. Heat tube and quickly slug with frozen insert. Indexed with matching heim bottomed out.
The old trusty HF notcher went back into service. Probably it’s last job as it’s being retired for a JMR unit this month. The mud drill makes a big difference in performance and safety.
Been almost 7 years since I’ve coped a tube
Sharpie marks to dial in fit. Legit table shines!!!

Rather than “wrap” the uniball cup with a strap like some arms are constructed, I’m utilizing an internal gusset for more weld surface area. Probably saw this on Instagram before for the idea. I’m a fan of concealed or internal gussets were allowable. Fitment below
Fixture table for the win!!! I’m a broken record by now but this is a game changer and I’m totally nerding out about this. The setup below has paralleled the arms in preparation to index the gusset channel from the under side. Operation will be repeated in reverse for the top side. Arms will again be fixtured as seen to index and tack weld the gusset to the cup. More to follow.
