Marketplace JK rehab

Looks like the root cause of the bearing failure was the plastic valve failing. New melling parts installed.
Can you provide a little more info on this? I've been offered a nice 2010 JK for cheap with 130K and a knocking engine and trying to decide if its worth the hassle.

Thanks!

Then i mocked up the stretch. Looks like it will end at 7” and yes im swapping in peasant leaf packs on the rear

I did not want to **** with putting a fuel cell in the back. I still want to use the hard top in the winter and wanted to keep the gas tank underneath. I didnt want a rear three link so said fawk it lets leaf swap it. Iron Rock Xj packs. Its a mix of stuff i made to french in the front hangers, ruffstuff u bolt eliminators and some Barnes shackles and mounts.

Its going to be a stink bug until i get the gas tank in, corner armor, plus a swing out with spare, hi lift and rotopax.
The random internet dude that wheeled with you once at Harlan 20 years ago approves of this **** turd build.
I dig it.

The oil pump has a shuttle valve in it. It was a plastic shuttle and the tip broke off. Engine then loses oil pressure and eats the crank bearings.

I got lucky and timing cover wasnt hurt. The oil pump gear rides directly against the aluminum timing cover so if too much bearing material is pushed through it can kill the timing cover. They are very expensive.
The melling oil pump comes with a nice steel shuttle valve.

Thanks! I'll start it and see if it has oil pressure...

If its cheap enough just find the van engine to swap in, they are way way cheaper. You just need to swap the jeep specific parts onto it, timing cover, oil pan, exhaust manifolds, lower intake.

There was an 09 2 door with a knocking engine at 140k on market place for $2k a while back. I almost went and got it just to fix and flip but I am out of space. There are definitely some deals around if you dont mind working on junk.

Mocking up stretch panels.

Rear xmember and shackle mounts are all welded in. Need to weld and reinforce the front hangers. I will layout the rear corners this weekend to mount flush led tail and reverse lights.

Its a little high in the rear. Lots of little things to button up. Tail lights, abs sensor extension. Pass side parking brake still needs hooked up

Rockers are gutted and rect tube welded in. Seam sealer on everything.
Wb is 105” and i put some remote rez skyjacker adx 13” shocks on the rear.

I will start on the front 3 link next week.

Any idea wtf brand these rear shafts are? Triple drilled. Loooooooooong splines. Google doesnt show **** with the part number.

They are 35spl and made pretty well. Axle flange is chamfered similar to nitro. Might pick up a set of revolutions at some point and keep these as spares.

i Got bored sunday and pulled the turd D30.
I stripped all the pass side brackets last night and notched the plastic inner **** to clear a barnes shock tower. I will have to shorten up the towers a few inches.
I will get the driver side stripped off tonight then install Artec crossmember and weld in an upper link mount then set WB. Square tube lowers because i have a stick of it. Front should go much quicker than the rear.

Anyone drilled and tapped a JK box in place? Cant decide if I should pull it or do it in the jeep.

A little bit of progress but still a ton to do.
WB at 106”. Plenty of room for 40s.
One of the tre bungs got tight so im waiting on a tap so i can set the toe. Ram needs mounted and box tapped. Arbs need wired and plumbed. Bought a compressor from the jungle site thats a arb knock off and need to figure out where to mount it.

Parking brake cables need adjusted. Gotta mount hi lift on the swing out. Might make rear flares.

The steering on this thing is getting frustrating.

It had a tight spot and the factory pump was getting loud.
With plans of adding ram assist I just ordered a Redhead box that was already tapped for hydro assist. I also got a brand new pump.

I got the box and new pump on and got it all bled out. Felt pretty smooth. Day two it started getting stiff like the pump was already going out. I put the ram on and pulled it right back off after a run down the driveway. Pump wasnt happy
I drove it to work to work the next day and the new pump took a dump on me. I ran to Oreillys and picked up a reman pump and slapped it on.
Its better but still very stiff like the pump doesnt have enough flow or there is a restriction. So annoying.

Same PS cooler and lines? Guessing you flushed everything before installing new parts? Isnt there a restrictor you can drill out in the pressure line to increase flow?
