Trailer brands to look at or avoid

Did you explore custom order Delco? Or get a cookie cutter?
A little, but not too much. I went with one off of the lot.

The local place in Corpus that sells Delco said they could order something, but though it might take 6-8 weeks to get a trailer built. I also learned that Corpus is lacking in options. The dealer I purchased from is in Hallettsville.

Did you sell any armadillos to pay for it?

Corpus is a ****hole. Options there suck for everything.

I've lived here for going on 43 years lol.

Finally picked it up today. Overall, I’m happy with my purchase so far. Will see if that changes once I get some miles on it.

Pequa Heavy Duty Deck Over Equipment Trailer | Pequea Machinery gets my vote.
I have a 99 that i got used for 1100 10 years ago. Still pulls great, the factory wiring harness is still in great shape with no cracks in the insulation. The manuals and factory parts are still supported by the serial number too.

The standard duty trailers are built with tube for main rails ut the HD and commercial have C channel.
I’ve got an 05 ish Pequea 14k 16+2 that’s been super solid and wired extremely well; junction boxes tongue, axle & tail lights. Never heard of another.
I wish I knew anyone who could confirm if that build quality has carried through the last 20 yrs.

I’d sell mine because it’s a couple feet shorter than I’d like, ( I have since purchased a 20’ trailer that’s not quite as stout) but it’s a super solid trailer so keeping it doesn’t hurt my feelings either.

Wasn’t Pequea the boat in Moby ****? An Indian tribe that went almost extinct and then got the last laugh with a casino that made them extremely rich per capita? Or am I thinking of something else?

Google says Pequod was a ship name in moby ****

Anyone have anything on quality on Texas Pride trailers?

Low end. May or may not use proprietary axles that can be difficult to find parts for at the side of the road on a weekend.

Ugh. Ya that’s what I figured. Just looking at pictures, they didn’t look real stout. Thanks

My quest is over. I ended up going with the Delco 24’ tilt deck gooseneck. I’m planning to pick it up later this week.

In my opinion the Delco and Maxx D trailers were the two best built that I looked at on this odyssey.
I know it’s only been a short time, but any updates on quality? Likes dislikes?

Honestly, I haven’t used it enough to have any real dislikes yet. Main thing I’ve hauled is my small sprayer. The tilt deck was excellent for that. The drive over fenders are nice. That saved me a few hours worth of work. My sprayer is set for 40” rows, so the tires won’t fit between the fenders.

Good. Sorry for the rush. I’m torn between the delco and ranch king. I looked at a delco 26’ lowboy goose in Caldwell and really liked it. Seems pretty stout, even the drive on fenders. They didn’t have a 30’ with 10k regular spring axles that I want, but they can order it.

it’s up against the ranch king (what they call) 25’ + 5’ flat deck. 10 k hutch suspension axles. They use the frame as part of the deck so the deck height is really low, almost as low as the lowboy delco.

I just bought a Rawmaxx car hauler. If their gooseneck is anything like the car hauler I would take a look at it. They are built in Mexico but the quality of the trailer is 10x that of the PJ i was looking at.

The Trailer Guys | Hallettsville, TX | Trailer Dealership

This is where I bought my trailer. They have a bunch on the lot, and aren’t too far from Waller.
Ya. There’s 3 delco dealers in my area: halletville, La grange and Caldwell. Lagrange either doesn’t have anything big like that or it’s not online. Caldwell and halletsville have good inventory. I was in the general area of Caldwell so that’s where I happened to stop.

The inventory at halletsville is weird. They have a 36’ flatbed with dovetail and ramps $12,600, but it has 7k axles under it. The trailer itself probably weighs 6k? That’s not a lot of carrying capacity left. My dad’s tractor would overload it quickly (10k#). I’d bet that trailer has been there a while.

I must have seen that same trailer on FBMP yesterday. I was thinking that it was a good deal for a 34' gooseneck right up until I saw the 7K axles. The trailer looked like it weighted at least half of that and probably has **** for load capacity. Seems dumb to build a big trailer that can't hold much weight.

Someone screwed up ordering that one, that’s for sure. If I had more time, I’d see if I could get it for $10k and add a 3rd axle or pull them and install 10k axles. Yes I know gvw numbers would be wrong, dot, nuns, puppies and such.

Even at $10k it isn't worth the trouble. You can get this one for slightly more already set up like that...
