MMW Dana 300 waiting list

Not a TMI issue thought. I emailed JB and said I'd like a full kit for the TMI case, gears outputs, everything. And no response. Can I planned to call but time gets away from me most days and seems easy enough to answer a email in a few weeks.
That's sort of what I inquired about too....just buy all the internals from them but JB seemed uninterested in that and wanted to sell a complete 3:1 Lomax case instead. And to be fair, it may be b/c they don't have new parts in terms of the 1.96 gears. Frankly, not sure anyone's still making the 1.96s.

I've kind of decided as much as I love Toyota dual gear driven cases, that if I break one, I'm swapping it for an Atlas. I think 40's or bigger (unless you are SUPER lightweight) are just asking a lot of the design.

21 spline 4.7 inchworm gears since 04, TG adapter plate, stock geared 21 spline reduction box, LF treated rear output in 2007. My old rig was 4700lbs on 40 stickys and new is 4k on 40 stickys. I've broken a lot of crap but never the cases. I thought it broke 2 years ago but my midship twisted in half:homer:

That said, Atlas will be next. Toyota cases are no longer cheap to buy or build and I have several I can sell to help fund it.

I've read low gearing in the axles helps....which is why I picked 5.86s for the axles on this build. Hoping that allows the cases to survive the 40s.

...get an Atlas

I love a 205....but i cant imagine fitting one in this chassis. maybe an atlas if that day comes

To be clear, I don't do 2 of everything. I grab the rare stuff.

If someone needed a 32 spline output, I'd send it to them, as long as they replace it when it comes back in stock.

I also bought a bunch of JB Conversions stuff in the secondary market when we built my Tyler@TMI's billet D300 that's in my CJ8.
I’m the same. Custom stuff I have one on the shelf. If I narrow an axle to custom width respline factory shafts and order some chromoly. I’m even contiplating keeping a spare coilover on the shelf in the future.

You can order everything off his website and not have to call. That's why I mentioned tmi. They give you the list you need from jb and you can just order. Im assuming that's why you wanted to call. Make sure you got everything needed for tmi case?

In case anyone wants to buy one for $3,700.
I don't know this guy. Just popped up in my marketplace.

another option enters the Dana 300 scene…

Not a bad deal for the first 10 buyers… but that makes me think it’s the tried and true to fail method of taking money without the actual product on the shelf.

I get it I'm a bit bias, cast aluminum is inferior in more ways than I have time to list.

Magnitude 205 and 300 are on sale for a short period if someone wants a deal! We're just finished up another batch of both cases..

Agreed....the billet case is definitely the better way to go....

Considering behemoth isn't a bottom of the barrel not known of machine shop...

I doubt they're not going to fulfill.

Eh, I know they've changed hands but I'm still not sold on Behemouth's shipping times.....

I don't wedge my XJ on 33's with a modern chain drive case that I drive to work in the same terrain as my buggy on 40's with twin sticks and need to shift the t-case with the drivetrain bound up, to maneuver the end that is wedged. If my STaK 300 shifted like my 231, that wouldn't be good enough at all.

It's great to see some "builder" options out there, I have zero interest in a 4:1 gearset, and have multiple sets of 2.62 factory gears (working to put together two D300's now)

The portal crowd have little/no need for 4:1.... 2.5ish trans x 2.62 t-case x 5.29ish diffs x 1.92 portal is 66:1. My 3ish first in the 700 puts me a 75:1 with 4.88's and it works perfectly. Mix in some 5.43 9" ratios and you can easily hit 85:1 crawl. 70-85 is spot on. 1st crawls perfect, 2nd for bumps.

Rumor has it a 3:1 D300 gear set is coming. WAIT, why, when you can get an ATLAS already? Because packaging...the width/height/etc of the ATLAS is a detriment to the compact design of most portal chassis (tho the new GSpec is using an ATLAS)

The foundry I worked at MANY years ago used aluminum in airport situations....ie: a plane could park on an aluminum manhole cover (sparkproof requirements). Metallurgy has come a long way since I left there in 2007.

Still wishing someone would make an aluminum case identical (well maybe a tad thicker) to the stock iron case.
If you made it thicker the gear attached to the rear out gets out of alignment and you have to machine down rear output housing to get everything lined back up. Mmw was thicker it also causes problems with detents on shift rail lining up and fully engaging in gear.

I’m over the 300 train and will probably only ever run atlas’ from here on out as I’ll never have a buggy.

yeah I'm leaning the same. Still want the concept of the 300 but JB hasn't responded at all to multiple emails and I'm over that.

Yeah...I ordered a 32 spline rear output from JB....and it took forever for them to ship after they accepted payment. Multiple emails ignored. Only responded after leaving a message via phone. Odd that in this day that phone is the only way to reach someone to solve a problem, ask a question, etc. That and their shipping charges are bonkers.
