What did you do for your ford today?

band clamps > U bolts
Damn bro, can't hide money 💰

 nah, I appreciate that the ubolts crush the tube together, no chance of something slipping apart after the first year, even if the nuts rattle off the bolts

It's pretty stupid that I put some sort of bolt fastener at the muffler every time. It's very rare that I ever swap just a muffler....once in my life maybe? Just in case

They used to be a couple bucks, damned things are over $5 ea now :shaking:

I assure you, even with the tube crunched and the U-bolt still on there a foot of water at 60mph will have no problem separating it.

well, for the $40 price difference, i'll happily deal with the consequences :flipoff2:

finally was able to get the video shortened down.

The above is what it is now with the turn down pointed down and the Hush Thrush ahead of the Thrush Glasspack

Video below is with the turndown pointed out and just the hush thrush

similar? Yes. Hopefully this kills the high load mid RPM drone though. Otherwise, i'll end up doing a full tailpipe to exit behind the rear axle and do sound deadening in the cab. Trips under 6 hours are fine, over that and it starts to be noticeable

Picked up a used heavy duty hitch for the flatbed for free from a buddy 😄

got rid of the weeney looking one that came with the truck before I made the bed 😁

Harness is done for now. Going to loom it and cut it down fully when I get it the truck back together. Theoretically it should run the engine right now if I hook up 3 wires. Had to rip out the interior to get all of the fuel pump/VSS wiring figured put hate how the body and engine harness were integrated on this truck.

Pulled that 460 core I bought apart farther tonight. Going to need checked out before I decide to build anything with it, all the bores on the driver's side have rust, #8 is pitted pretty significantly and it's already .060 over. I hit it with a hone really lightly and those holes are pretty deep

Flat tops with closed chamber heads though, wasn't short on static compression.

That's nothing. Might smoke the first hundo miles you put it back in service but that's it.

Seriously, I've pulled heads off fine running engines to see way, way, way worse.

Took the F-250 out to KOH the week of the big race to just mob around, and it was giving me hell all weekend, dying on me randomly, I would have to wait for 10 minutes to restart it, being down on power, screeching the belts. Just overall a bad experience.

I planned to take care of it when I got back but a bout with Appendicitis had me in the ER getting emergency surgery and I’ve been on light duty the past month.

This weekend I finally felt up to working on the truck, found a rotted out wire in the fuel relay plug
IMG_6697.jpeg
Spliced a new one in, changed the squealing belts and tensioner, threw motorcraft wires and plugs in instead of the cheap parts store stuff the last guy had on there

I thought the plug was going to be the only issue but as soon as I got it spliced in, the truck wouldn’t start, I swapped a new fuel pump relay today and it runs smooth and starts up quick, so I assume the ****ty connection in the old plug took out the relay too.

AC quit working on bronco. Threw gauges on it, high pressure side was normal and low pressure wpuld drop to zero when the compressor kicked on. Drained it and opened up the condensor, some residual pressure blew out a bunch of oil after being open a few minutes. Flushed it and recharged.

Blows super cold now.

I've been working on my 2017 leaf spring swap for the 69. I bought jacobs kit. Well made stuff but what I didn't realize when I bought it is that there's no way a decent sized receiver hitch will work.

Here's a pic of the battle born setup (not my truck) -

You can see the spring hanger wraps around the bottom of the frame like the old Chevy 3/4 ton trucks with a second bracket that bolts to the vertical bracket. Most the class 5 hitches that fit a 34" frame make cut outs specifically for the k30 bracket. Unfortunately that cut out isn't quite big enough.

Well I'm determined to get a strong hitch on this so I had a local steel shop bend a 11x20 sheet of 3/8 with a 3" leg and an 8" leg. Trimmed it up with the cutoff wheel. Then I bought a curt 16k lb cross tube online for $150. I plan to French it through the plates and burn it in with 7018.

Ought to be plenty stout. Will be running 2017+ skyjacker soft rides for a 3" lift sitting directly on the perches with no lift block for a factory ride height. From everyone I've talked to the ride vs hauling capacity is fantastic. Not that I'll even need it, this chassis should really never see more than ~8k going 50mph but at least the hitch and leafs won't be the limiting factor.

Few years ahead of schedule was hoping for a 20-22 with a 7.3

Betty 06 e450 v10 5r110 got demoted, 2nd in line looking sad & tired.

New junk is 17 f550 v10 6r140 This trans co took much better care of their buses than the retirement home did betty. Crawling underneath I was in awe of the clean non flakey metal. Fluid filmed from new. Still two years ago they cut off all the body mounts & replaced them because they were rusty.

Eldorado National out of Kansas is the builder.

Going to yank seats today. Has cc buttons on the steering wheel, doesn’t work. I didn’t drive it the 2.5 hours home so no real operating condition report but driver said it’s great!

Chairlift location sucks cause it’s different than I’m used to, no rear door, seems easy enough to add one. Full fiberglass body with I assume steel floor stringers, we’ll see how tough it is.

IMG_1663.jpeg

I turned the big brow above the windshield of the e450 into a “bunk” this one is much smaller. :(

Radio display is non op

Opened the passenger door heard some crackling, light strip in the floor that illuminates when the passenger door is opened, seems there was a short, the pen is pointing to a new hole in the floor with junk from the glovebox.

Wait you actually bought it?

You should let me ride shotgun while you take it off a sick jump as a finders fee. :flipoff2:

I didn’t buy ****, the fat man stole it!

I sent you a text with a screenshot of the winning bid the night it ended.

However VT is not playing nice with registration, they don’t care what he paid. They’ve got some number out of their ass about what it’s worth. Their number and the actual number are very far apart.

Only Betty has the whoops scissors, there will be no sweet jumps with a solid beam axle.

I need to paint an apostrophe near the original number.

Dropped off to get the the exhaust manifolds replaced.
This turned into a rotted Ypipe, which has both cats in it. Waiting on parts. Warranty is covering it thankfully as its ~$4000 from Ford. Because it's warranty (3rd party extended), it has to be OEM parts. So we wait. Truck sounds like **** in the interim.

Finally made a place to retire gas struts that won't hold up a Legacy trunk to. Probably gonna tear the rivnut out the hood side sheetmetal where the ball stud lives at some point because it's a lot of force for a ****ty install on a contoured surface but I'll just plate it when that happens. I bet it takes years.
