What's new

What's under the newest F350s?

You’re correct about the perches. My recall took ~9 months of hassle with Ford and local dealers. First inspection was 1000 miles away and welding at a dealer 100 miles away. Only out up with it to keep it under warranty. Only put 10,500 on it in over 2 years… should have kept the 2016.

Mine is rated at 11,500 GVWR, 5800 front and 6830 rear GAWR.
Good point about warranty. It’s such a double edge sword.
I’ve put 26k on my 21, and I bought it with 23k… don’t know if I’ll keep it past 100k when extended warranty is up. I also wish I had my 2015 still :lmao:

I’d be curious if there’s actually a difference between our two trucks or it’s just a sticker. We have the same wheels and tires, so no difference there. I assume same front and rear springs because it’s Tremor. Both with the M275 axle. Someone already said brakes are all the same.

Could there be minor frame difference between a 250 and 350? Maybe?
My bet is it’s just a sticker.

$1.00 says it’s just the sticker.

Edit: or different overload leaf?

Given you can get a 10k GVW package on the dually it's all just stickers LoL

Do you have the same brake booster? Some srw trucks are hydroboost and some are vacuum.

One of you need to compare the Dana 80 37 spline carrier with the Dana M300 carrier and report the results. My dually needs a locker and no one seems to know.

Its a bummer we can't get the e-locker in the dualllys.

m 275?

When did they stop putting the taller block in rear of the alumiduty?

Not sure what it is. Doesnt say on the paperwork, casting or tags.

Definitely funky looking, but looks reminiscent of a Sterling. I wonder if Ford made a "Super" 10.5 similar to the Super 8.8 in the newer F150s. Basically more spread between the carrier bearings and bigger pinion bearings and pinion shaft.

Looks like there’s something cast right here? That’s where mine says 275

Here is the casting you have circled in red:

Other tags and stamps/castings. Dont see an obvious model.

11.6" ring gear maybe? Its 3.73 ratio.

The new super duty SRW get the Dana M series axles. In this case it's an M275 most likely with an electronic locker.

The axle recall is only for 350's and above, basically Ford said "we did the math and it doesn't matter for 250's"

I was under the impression it was basically a 350 when I got it, not that I needed that though. But then I compared to my buddies ‘18 350 SRW long bed and I don’t see why it would be a tagged for more if the axle and rear springs are the same? Maybe it’s the tremor package?

White is the 18 350 and grey is the 21 250

One year later. You have different sized tires with different load ratings.

That's odd, my 22 has the aluminum diff cover and I'm sure your truck does too. Why the switch I wonder?
That's what I was thinking, my '18 didn't have it. The '22 does and now this HO '23 or '24 doesn't...

Any chance those trucks without the aluminum cover have a lower GVWR? Other than Ford penny pinching on a truck that is already way overpriced I can't think of a reasonable explanation. Because it's an HO the diff doesn't get as hot?

I didn't have time to finish researching but it looks like the '23+ trucks might have a Sterling diff not a Dana M3xx which might explain the lack of aluminum diff cover.
