Some pics of my new build, didn’t take any pics in the begin wasn’t sure I was gonna start any kinda build thread but this new site seems cool.Started with a 1950s Dodge Powerwagon cab then built the rest. The frame rails are2x5x.188 mild steel with 2x.125 Dom main cage.I cut about 6inchs of the bottom of the cab as I wanted that low cg and the look that goes with it,but at the he expense of some interior space/comfort.Drive train is 6.2 aluminum block LS in front of 4l80e connecting to a DSTRAC transfer case(too long of a wait on an atlas so giving it a try, seems beefy though)useing 2.5x.25dom shafts with 1410 joints.Axles are sd60 and sterling 10.5 with Barnes trusses front and back and PSC 3x9 ram.Stainless mid leath headers with 3 inch stainless exhaust pipe and shorty muffler.Suspension is Barnes joints with 2.25 aluminum 7075 links(Dom mock ups in pics) and 14” ORI struts.I’m working on a sway bar for the rear as I intend to street it a fair amount that will disconnect for wheeling.Rear mounted rad cause not enough room in the grill shell for a big enough rad,but trans and power steering coolers will take that space.Built a aluminum tool box right behind the rad to use every bit of space available for more stuff. The fuel tank is also built to fit and has a Holley billet engine n tank pump.Front and rear 12,000 # (I know harbor freight but I’ve read good things so far)winches. If there’s any interest I’ll post build pics as I progress, love to here your thoughts thanks Earl

Sweet rig! What size tires? :smokin:

Sweet start to a heck of a build! I'll be watching this for sure; the ranch I worked for years had an old 50's power wagon just sitting in a field that I dreamed about doing something like this with...never happened of course, so this will be cool to see!

Hell ya!!! I love it. Can you post more pics of your interior and cage?

Some of the work I’ve done since those pics were taken.Had to recess the pedal box into the firewall to give me enough leg room, also shows how steering works to keep the orbital outside the cab.Got most of the floor done and seats mounted along with seat belt mounts. The steering wheel gave me a little grief as my other full hydro buggy’s never hold the wheels straight with h but he steering wheel position. So I looked for a symmetrical wheel that was a small diameter (leg room)and found a boat wheel would work but he hen had to find a shaft to fit the boat taper.Found a used column then machined the double d on the other end with some bronze bushings supporting it.Working on rear sway bar now will put some pics up when done. Thanks Earl

They finally did 47 stickies huh? Curious how they work compared the the 43s, the non sticky ltb's are pretty terrible
According to Scott at Goforth tire that’s all they make now is stickies

I hate to be that guy... but i am.
When you load pics you can choose to insert full size images, there will be the word "insert" floating over the thumbnail. Click that and you have the choice between full size and thumb... please choose full size
This thing is very nice, but bigger pics will make it better

Sorry I’m an old guy and just figuring out how to do this without my sons help but I’ll try.Finished the sway bar today it’s a 4130 bar with some arms I fabbed up,the little tabs near the pivot is to store one arm when I disconnect for off road.I’m hoping the struts do their thing off road for sway but felt I may need a little stiffer on the street.

How did I miss this? I am in love! Amazing project! I dreamed of building a PW Crawler for many years but keep getting distracted with other projects and fell out of the crawler world. This is too cool! CLEAN work too!

I am interested in seeing how you like the sticky LTBs and how well the Superduty axles hold up. The DSTRAC transfer case is interesting as well.

Awesome build, I don't know how I missed it until now :smokin:
