What's new

Your go-to underrated movies

a couple that havent been mentioned off the top of my head
Brick
Layer Cake
running scared
lock stock and two smoking barrels and Snatch but thats more well known

How old was Jeff Ward in that video?:grinpimp:
Bruce Brown did the best documentaries, Dana did Step Into Liquid, but it was a tribute to The Endless Summer
as so is Dust to Glory

all top notch videos
Bruce Brown did Endless Summer, and then Endless Summer II showing the transition to short boards, etc., and Dana did Step showcasing tow in surfing, kite surfing, etc..

On any Sunday was released in 1971. Jeff Ward was born in 1961, so clearly Boomer.

I should also add the dogtown documentary by greg steczik. Not the movie.

My go to 'under rated' movie.
On and Sunday, the OG, the original Bruce Brown documentary

no special effects, just old school Gen X life happening as it was
although I have a DVD, it is a direct copy of the VHS with the bad sound and visual wobbles left in there :grinpimp:
Most that are unaware of this little gem, but old school guys know what it is

Yes, first time I watched it was 1991

Dazed And Confused
Tombstone
Office Space
Road Trip
Hot Rod (the one with teh Willys drag car)
Two lane blacktop

Ones that are not mega blockbusters but are just a good movie you can watch just about any time.

Shot Caller
Fury (Ok maybe a bigger film but still always a go-to)
Leon The Professional
Boondock Saints
This was good.

Jamie Lannister is the main guy.

I was watching a y-tube on the creation of Blazing Saddles last night.
\
Going to watch the whole movie again..... :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I would love to see a gloovs off Mel Brooks movie on today's politics. :stirthepot::stirthepot::stirthepot::stirthepot:
That would be great

3:10 to Yuma

The Patriot

Apocolypto

Escape from New York - a rare movie that I would like a remake of BUT they would ghey it up, make the president a Type A female, hit all the social warrior causes in NYC, and generally fuck it up.

Sexy Beast

Rogue One

Road to Perdition

Sexy Beast

This is a fucking brilliant movie.

And to nit-pick, this is an UNDERRATED thread. I see a lot of movies being listed that are outright critically acclaimed and/or box office smashes.

Cheesy one:
The Quick and the Dead.

Nothing redeeming about it but again, an all-star cast that just somehow makes the gunfighter trope last for two hours :dustin:

(there was a meme/clip in the Kackler thread that reminded me)

Never heard of it before this. Going to find where I can stream it now

I realy like this movie. Would be interested on how it held up with someone new seeing it now.

Looks like it's free on tubi.

I've never seen it either - will report back.

In a similar spacey vein: Silent Running

Dude, based on that list I think we may be soul mates. :flipoff2:

I can't oversell Layer Cake. It's just a phenominal movie that it seems like no one has seen.

Also, kudos for actually listing underrated flicks.
