TLDR, OR I'm not a nerd get to the point:
Company has woke translators putting woke ideology into english versions of japanese anime and now the creators are going to use AI for the translations and the translators are crying they will be out of a job.

I am more a fan of games and game art than an actual gamer. I just don't have the time like i used to. I do like anime and watch a good bit of it. With that being said I hate subtitles because reading takes away from watching for me. I love the art, the style of certain anime and i find myself re-watching stuff after reading so i usually wait for the english dubs. One of the biggest anime services out there is crunchyroll. They pretty much corner the market on english dubbing on Japanese anime. Well it seems that their female head of that dept jamie marchi has been part of the "localizers" (localizers are the people who translate the japanese dialog to english and are supposed to make subtle changes to stuff that does not translate directly) inserting woke ideology and political statements into the english dubs and it's finally getting called out by the original japanese artists/writers to the point that there is now a japanese company that developed an AI system to do the english dubbing more faithfully than the localizers and now they are crying that they are losing work to AI. hahahaha

Along the same lines of wokeness ruining stuff It has been noticed that some western game developers are making female characters less attractive so that female gamers would feel more included. WTF have you seen male characters? How many men look like that. And it seems that the games following the woke ideology are failing miserably just like disney. Maybe the tide is turning.

I know a guy that is in his early 30's and still doing Lego models of Star Wars stuff. Complains he doesn't have time to do this or that.

I know some people who play video games still and one who spends all their free time doing that. I just see it as a total waste of valuable time you could be doing something productive like posting crap on irate :flipoff2:

That's halfway there. Many people do models and build things. That it's of fantasy stuff is ok, I guess. At least he's not living in a computer game
 
Japanese culture and by extension Anime can be incredibly based in some respects. They have a homogenous culture for the most part so a lot of the culture war stuff does not make it over there in any significant way. The culture emphasizes hard work, academic achievement, physical fitness, traditional relationships, honesty and a bunch of other positive attributes. They also value conformity, almost utter submission to the state and even the employer, not to mention all of the weird japanese age of consent stuff which is negative. There is a lot more anime coming out every year but most of it is trash, not because it is woke but just because it is low effort copies and parodies of other shows.

That being said, I doubt the AI is being implemented in response to woke localizers, more likely it is a cost saving measure and people in the west are just celebrating the shitty translators losing work without really knowing the full consequences.

Comedy shows for example make a lot of weird japanese language and culture specific references that AI would never be able to translate and a good localizer might have to change a large section of dialog to make it funny to a western audience.

I posted it because I was amazed that wokeness had gotten to this level. I guess I should not be surprised anymore. As for the gamer bros it's not for me. I have some friends that do game way to much but i also have friends that drink way to much. Whatever you do to have fun thats up to you.
I got out of gaming when I stopped building gaming pc's and overclocking. I was one of the first that I knew of in my group that had water cooling in my PC. I had a machine shop cut out identical pathways in two copper blocks that were then connected together. Then tapped in tube connectors to the top piece with tubes running to a vega heater core and a pump. Crap by todays standards, now you just buy it already setup and installed, Or just buy the kit.

A lot of anime is garbage but there are some good ones out there.

Yea that is a problem.

One of the cool things about gaming is that is where a lot of the hardware innovation comes from that seeps down into the everyday pc's eventually. Nobody ever wanted to see an excel spread sheet in full color with sound. If it was not for games and pron the internet would not be where it is today. Pretty good squabble brewing as some of he bigger game studios are starting to use AI for some graphics and voice overs, replacing the people that did it in the past.
 
people that are in charge of translating the anime are not sticking to the original scripts and are inserting woke crap.
