Win!

Seems like a lot of warning shots?

It's about suppression. The chances of the average guy, even a trained shooter, to hit a moving boat bouncing around while on a ship bobbing up and down are pretty slim. Their main chance of hitting them was the short time they were almost directly below them against the hull of the ship.

Two or three guys watching their impacts on the water and walking their shots into the boat, easy. No Somali shooting experience here, buy I've done similar when I caught a sounder of pigs swimming from an island to shore. It's all about volume.

um
that ship is rock solid in conditions like that

At first, when they were approaching I would agree with you. They spent way too much time up next to the ship where they are much easier to hit. I was surprised that paid shooters didn't kill every dude in that boat. It looked like someone was still steering it after it dropped way back.

I doubt more than one or two guys in the first boat were wounded or killed. The second boat probably never got hit at all. A large ship underway will suck a small boat like that against the hull due to the suction of the water rolling under the boat, so it can get stuck there for a bit until the break free.

I think many here would pay to shoot at pirates.
Kinda like a hunting trip…
Always thought they should have a $100 per ticket lottery for firing squad executions. Winners have to provide their own travel, weapons and ammo. It would pay the federal prison system budget.
ARs r ghey for the high seas. Give me an ole timey cannon with all the silverware from the galley stuffed down the barrel.
A M240 (7.62 SAW) would be my choice.

Give a few people seven barrel volley guns for fun. Make sure they’re tied off so when they drop them from firing all seven at once, you don’t lose them in the ocean.

Mortars would be the most fun. Timing, lead, angle…. Just keep sending them

There's one where Russians captured a Somali boat. There were like nine of them. The roped/cuffed them to each other, and killed one. Threw them overboard. Watched them drown.
