What's new

Which cruiser ?

This is where I’m at adventure bike if going off pavement, sport touring if you’re racking up miles.
I rode my 83 Honda V45 magna up to a little mountain lake on a single track just to prove a point. With street tires the shady damp spots required a little more judicious handling.
Wouldn’t suggest it as a weekly thing:laughing:.

I’d love to get a GW or a Valkyrie again though. I miss my GW.

Your statement shows you haven't looked beyond the basic Sportster, Fat Boy, Road Glide, Electra Glide and Road King offerings.

Harley is the apple of motorcycles, let’s introduce these new features others bikes have had for years and show everyone how great we are.

There’s bikes that do the exact same thing every model in their lineup but better and cheaper, however it doesn’t say Harley on the side.

I’ve ridden an r6 up to top of a mountain on an “unimproved road” outside Cody a few times when camping out there, a street bike hurts the wallet and ego a lot more to lay over than an adventure or dirt bike though.

Disagree that there is no aftermarket for bikes other than Harley.
There's plenty of aftermarket, it's just most metric owners don't modify them because they work well from the factory where I know many Harley owners that claim you have to modify them right ofcthe showroom floor to make them liveable. That was pre Rushmore though.

I scoped Dallas area Craigslist and there's lots of vtxs on there, some triumphs.
Find something that speaks to you.
You're lucky you'll fit on most bikes without major modifications, unlike the 6'5" guy.

Log into Facebook I like this too but it’s not a Harley 😂 I spoke to the guy super nice definitely took care of it and it would be a solid piece

Yessir. It's my dad's. Doesn't quite have the strength to ride it anymore, so he's finally accepted it and wants to sell.
Feel free to shoot me a PM. Hate to hear your Dads having to get out of his hobby though !

Yamaha Roadstar is hard to beat. And guys saying you gotta buy a Harley to be able to modify are nuts. Only draw back is it’s a a 5 speed. And they’re a softail design, so you can tell when you’re riding 2 up with a tour pack and bags full of gear. But a converted gold wing shock and cheap fork rebuild with nice springs and heavier oil makes em handle the weight nice. Mine regularly goes on 1000 mile weekends with a bunch of Harleys.

Mines got Harley one touch bags, Harley tour pack, and a cheapie fairing. All comes off if that’s not your style.

My buddies Yamaha Raider is the fastest cruiser in our group. Runs off and leaves my brother in laws 2022 RG with cam, tune, and exhaust.

I don’t have anything against Harley. I’m just a cheap bastard. If I can do the same thing for 1/4 of the cost (or cheaper) and still be reliable and not a hindrance to anyone, then that’s what I’m doing.

I had one of these for a while too. It was a pretty dang good bike. EFI, ABS, cruise, heated seats and grips, 6 speed

Depends upon your time, skills, and creativity.

My VStar was pretty well modified with a 21" 60-spoke up front, drag bars and VH exhaust, but when I wanted to put in a better stator, I couldn't find one more powerful (I had dreams of a PCH trip for my Army retirement, I would have been living off the bike and needed the extra power to charge all my devices as well as running the aftermarket lighting on my bike). Meanwhile, I found hundreds of different offerings for the HD bikes. I wound up taking an oilfield job that prevented me from having the time to take that trip and bought the HD 15 months later (upgraded its stator and regulator for the same reasons), but still never made the journey.

Someday.:homer:

Found some old pics, this is from a 2-up ride through Silver City and Pinos Altos on our way to the Gila Cliff Dwellings (hiking boots were in the saddlebags):

This was on the Salt Flats (underwater at the time) outside Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Ex rode her own for this one, but we had to bring a fuel can as her Sportster couldn't make the trip without an extra gallon):

I sold the bike to a riding buddy who wanted it for his wife, but they divorced and he sold it to a guy in his riding club. I still see pics on occasion where the bike is with them.

Raider is a great bike.
As long as the styling and ergonomics will work for you. The 1900 yamaha is a great engine, they p ut it in quite a few bikes.
I rode my brother's raider quite a few times.
Rode great, not sort bike handling, but pretty good for a big cruiser. Only real downside is the small fuel tank for a thirsty engine.
Definitely go for a test ride.
Who gives a rip that it's not a Harley I'd rather have a yamaha, triumph honda ect.

Made an offer on Raider he is fairly firm I think his price is high .

Not sure where you live but I have a 2008 Fatboy that I'm kinda maybe willing to let go of, but I'm afraid I'll regret selling it even though I don't ride it enough anymore with the new job. It's got about 48,000 miles on it but no issues besides time for a new rear tire. I've ridden Honda cruisers for years and a dual sport til it got stolen, and got talked into buying this one from a buddy who hooked me up with the dealership cus he won't ride with anyone that doesn't ride a Harley lol..
I know everyone says a motorcycle is a motorcycle, and sure, metric bikes are probably better in almost every way, but now that I've ridden this one, I won't ever go back metric. That's just me though. a Fatboy has been my dream bike ever since Terminator 2 came out and I finally have one lol.

Funny, I wanted one since Terminator as well, then I grew up and sat on one. Nope, don't fit.:frown:

Has the South Park biker/Harley riders in the cafe episode been linked from YouTube yet?

If Leadfoot falls through, I have a crisp three fiddy ready:flipoff2:

After all one should pay the buyer when disposing of HD...
