What's new

What's up with these Dually Fenders - '89 Chevy 3500?

Put me down in the 50/50 camp. I can see for shorter fellas getting in and out of the bed being a pain and these alleviate that. Iunno. I wouldn't let it bother me much on the purchase.

Just cheaper replacements for the fiberglass originals. Im gonna say not a modified SRW simply because of the size of the wheel opening in the box.

Point taken however the SRW front hubs would say otherwise.

Can't stand why people want 2 different wheels on their duallys, custom built or not. Life starts to suck when you need a spare and don't have the right rim for the flat.

I don't get why it matters. Looks?

This is what changing dually tires is like.

This guy has the best take online that I've seen. He knows the drawbacks

I don't know what I just watched, but if that guy worked for me and took 30 minutes to change 1 tire, I think I would be reconsidering his employment in my organization.

I need a set for my 85 Chevy dually but wouldnt buy those as they are disgusting.

Want just stock if anyone has a line on a stock set.

I kinda like the fenders. Plus, you get a place to sit while it’s going down the road.

what is in the bed, expanded metal? Or a floor mat?

I’m almost certain I have seen similar ones on a conversion dually before, but I can’t remember the name. Thinking it’s for horse people.

Centaurs? I think it'd take a lot more than just special fenders for them to drive it.

It states right in the ad that it is a C+C truck :homer:, so someone put a SRW bed on it. Looks hideous. The Ford mirrors are mo' betta than the factory Chebby ones of that year. I will give them points for that.

I like em. They look less goofy than the giant standard dually sides imo. Plus it looks like they're functional as a step.

As an owner of a dually, with useless massive fiberglass fenders stuck to the side of a SRW box right out of the factory, I admire the attempt to make things more practical. Are they ugly? Yes. Are they potentially more practical than factory flares? Also yes. At this point in my life I'll take practical over pretty, even if they only ever serve as a shelf to hold my tools when I am doing a brake or bearing job on that rear axle.

Having said that, IDGAF anymore because I just snagged a flatbed for my truck :flipoff2:

^ agree. Those seem useful, if only to set a beer on. Stock fenders look like a steamer trunk strapped on each hip, for no purpose. All they are is yuge mudflaps...
