What you do to your MC today?

I run one of the Magura conversion setups on my KDX with a Midwest Mountain Engineering lever and I love it.

That is the exact set up on my old Husky. I may just steal it off there and order the necessary slave to fit the FX. ~$100 vs $325 plus an MME lever

Put a seat cover on the KLX. Not super impressed with the fit from MotoSeat, halfway through installing I actually went back and checked my invoice to make sure I didn't accidentally order one for a tall seat there was so much extra material.

I mean it does fit and it does look nice, material seems good but there were places I took 2-2 1/2" off the edge after it was installed. I've done a fair number of seats in the past couple years and as far as store bought covers go this one fought the hardest.

Tore the kid's JR down again today, finally found why it's been eating transmission oil. The aftermarekt crank seal I used when I built the engine is on the left, OEM Suzuki on the right. The aftermarket seal is 1mm wider, so the bearing sits and rubs against it.

I always swap a Brembo master on so I can have matching MME levers as I love the shape/feel of them. This bike is no different. I think this master has been on like 5 bikes

I had bought these nifty little clicker wheels for the Beta but never installed them before selling it. So much easier than trying to get a screw driver in there.

Tapped the bars for hand guards. I wasn't sure I'd like the bar bend but I compared it to a spare set of bars I had and they are the same sweep, just an inch taller. They felt odd because they were rolled way back compared to how I run mine.

Old set of Cycra pro-bends out of the parts bin. Stole the BRP bar clamp mounts off my Husky.

Rocky Mountain has an ebay store where they sell returns and stuff apparently. Picked up a FMF muffler and Bullet Proof rear disc guard from them. Further ebay searching turned up an open box Magura hydro conversion and a TMD chain guide so scooped those up also.

Stuck on graphics. I hate spending money on the things as they always get chewed up. About to just buy new OEM rad shrouds as they have molded in graphics and be done with it

Annoyingly, even though it is Nissin brakes like the Beta, it specs a different front pad so the 4 extra sets I have don't fit it :shaking:

I searched that and only came up with goobers that were selling rockymountain atv stuff:laughing:

Parts started showing up. Pretty much all protection stuff other that the Magura.

Drug out the tall stand. Everybody should buy one of these, but get one with caster wheels :flipoff2:

Rear chain guide was a lot more smashed up than it initially appeared

The bottom lugs on these forks feel down right fragile compared older Yamaha forks. Polisport guards and wrap around fork guards.

Magura slave is pretty tight to the head pipe, maybe 10mm air gap. Will probably throw some heat reflective tape/sleeve on it.

Round 1 done. Graphics, muffler, and some other small bits should be in by the weekend. I'm still nursing a knee injury (not from dirt bikes) so plenty of time to get it all set up.

I need to take better notes. I ordered a new main a 290 for my 69 Thunderbolt. I thought it had a 300 in there turns out it was a 320 kinda explains why it was so fat past half throttle it should have had a 300 now I’m wondering if I had a 270 last summer with tge other carb because that’s the only other size of single main I can find .

Anyhow went for a ride to dinner with my nephew and dad really nice day perfect temps

Nice:smokin:

When you start havin gas issues. Throw that one way breather on the tank vent away.

Not goona say how long it took us to figure out that, that was the problem:lmao:

Skid plate came in. I normally run TM Designs plates but the one for this bike appeared to use a bracket to clamp to the frame instead of using the factory mounting points for some reason. AXP was the same way. Found a recommendation for this brand, SXslideplate, that uses the factory points plus taps an unused existing hole as well. Their website is a bit tedious to navigate is my only complaint so far.

Not much in the box, no packing materials at all . Interesting they just write the instructions on it  Nice bonus of including the drill and tap though, wasn't expecting that.

Tune it in with fronts first since they're cheap and don't require consumables to swap. Then move to the rear for fine tuning.

Yup thats the plan. Trying to get away from 1st gear, as this thing likes to click neutral if you dont shift it hard:shaking:

Head is on, so will get the carb tuned an then do the sprockets. Goona try this thing where I only change one thing at a time. I'm bad about trying to change 15 things at once. An then wondering what it was that made the biggest difference:homer:
