What do you durning lunch break?

Some days eat lunch on site on the run! Or wait until crew is pumping concrete then kick back in boat seat on rig and chow down . Monsters and snickers bars king-size for crew and I that day eat mine omw to site.

Somedays lunch at my desk! I know hard to believe.. even for me still at this point..

If on part run or long windshield time day I still eat my lunch I brought for the day, however I'll be stopping somewhere to go out to eat. :smokin:

Sometimes in my truck eat what I brought and watch something I've dl to phone and haven't watched

On rare occasion we have a taco trailer 10mn away I'll see who wants what call it in and it'll be damn near ready by time I pull into pick it up.:smokin: their carnitas tacos are yumminess

Used to come home everyday I was at yard/office for lunch with Bonnie she got a potty break and would get some play time in and I'd slam a sandwich or three. While we played:emb::cool2::smokin:

I'll try to stroll by the break rooms and see if anyone I need face time with is eating in the building; if not, I'll eat at my desk and keep working. Sometimes, I plan to accidentally run into someone right before lunch and convince them I'm buying... this is one of my favorite tactics for providing unsolicited feedback; people tend to argue less when they're eating a free hamburger.

30 minute unpaid. Clock out,walk 3 minutes to breakroom,sit down,make old man noises,eat,phone,talk,clean dishes,walk 3 minutes to clock in.

I Go to the gym. I lift weights Mon, Wed, and Fri. I do cardio Tues and Thurs. We have a really nice gym on site.
Generally this. We have a gym in our office, but I don't work there. I plan my day so I'm at a jobsite near my gym, its a good way to break up 8 hours of sitting in my truck on the phone or staring at an Ipad.

I get a half hour paid as long as I stay inside, and being maintainence, the company prefers we stay available anyways.

So I do the same thing I do all day anyways, whatever.

I usually just eat a sangwedge while doing computer work.
Figure it makes up for the other random breaks during my 12+hr shift when I use the shitter or need 10 mins to woo saaww before my blood pressure hits the roof.

Same with breakfast. I grab eggs, bacon,, etc in a a foam tray and eat it while going through morning emails, voice-mail, waiting for the caffeine to kick in. Otherwise I'd need to get up at around 0430 vs 0515.

Get paid from clock in to clock out. AK has no requirements for breaks.

When I was able to work, I always worked through lunch if I wasn't close enough to go home to eat.

12.5 hour shifts. At least 1.5 hour travel time each way. I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner from my lunch box or whatever is left over in my tool box.
Quick breakfast during daily lineout.
Lunch at the surface shop or there are a couple of microwaves underground.
Dinner is back at the shop as I'm putting tools away getting ready to go home.

45 min lunch. Usually bring leftovers, heat them up in the break room and eat it in my truck listening to an audiobook or podcast. If I stay in the office, half the time, somebody will need something and jack my lunch break up. Salary, 55 hours a week, they get enough of my time.

I generally don’t take one. I’m in and out of my truck, or doing field work that I’m trying to finish before the heat of the afternoon.

Some asshole at work started some working lunch bullshit. They bring in food and we are supposed to work while eating. I get up when the food shows up and eat my lunch in peace. I come back when I am done and have never missed anything.

If I’m at the office I’ll eat a small lunch at my desk while surfing the net. If I’m out of the office I usually skip lunch. I don’t really take a lunch “break”. I’m salary and my schedule fluctuates.

Had the slightly better version of that at a previous employer. Provided food meant lunch was actually kept to 30mins, kept everyone on site, but you were subject to being interrupted if something came up.

Several jobs later - work feeds me and pays me the whole hour break. I might have to drop lunch if we're on fire or sinking though.... :emb:

I’m retired and work in my barn all day, at lunch time my wife brings me something to eat and I talk to her, sometimes when I work late she’ll br me dinner also. It’s rough being retired.
Actually I work harder at home than I did at work, I use to say after a weekend working at home I couldn’t wait for Monday so I can take it easy. Lol

I helped out at another warehouse and they work 8-5 but only get paid 40hrs because they have an hour "lunch"
I'd much rather work 40hrs, get paid 40 hrs.
8 hr shifts suck too, feels like hardly get a chance to get going and it's quitting time.
Place I worked I told them don't bother calling me if there's not at least 10hrs of work.
Waste of my time driving an hours and working some bullshit like 2000 to 0200.

I keep a “government project” in the warehouse to fuck with in down time. I’m salary & figure it all works itself out in the end.

I spell check my thread titles at lunch. :flipoff2:

I’m salary and work at my desk. I could take as long as I want but nobody is doing my work when I’m gone. I bring lunch from home and read news stories on LinkedIn for 15 minutes while I chow.

A. Glad I've never worked anywhere that required a lunch break, or at least didn't enforce it.
B. I don't typically eat lunch. Large breakfast and dinner.

That's a part of it too.

Oddly enough, I usually only eat "lunch" in Thursdays, when I have a meeting that's 2-3 hours long and goes through lunch.

Otherwise, coffee for breakfast and whatever for dinner. Nicotine all day takes care of the rest.

Maybe half the days I'll get a coke from the coke machine, 200 calories of sugar is like lunch

I'm supposed to get 2 15s and a 30. Some days I eat in the van on the way to and from, or pause for 5 to stuff my face. Some days I get no calls and I take 3 hours of breaks and clean the van and organize the shop. Depends.

this isn't normal?
Depends on how much diversity you have going on. We're a bunch of old white dudes that have been machinist for at least 30 years each. Now when we had the black welder that converted to Islam, things were a little more toned down when he was in the room. Fortunately he didn't like eating around us infidels. May sure to comment how good my ham sammich was every time he was there though.
