Didn't watch the vid, so no idea it was for business.
How much is a smog these days? Tax write off eligible for business?
Trying to figure on a scale what kind of impact this really has on his business.
Doesn't matter how much smog is. It's bs with any vehicle from 96 and up. If you don't have an SES/Check engine light, who cares. If the vehicle isn't smoking who cares. I have to smog my vehicles but see a car, at least once a week, driving around that would take care of the mosquitos.
Tax write off. Maybe. Some things are write offs completely. Others aren't or "the cost of doing business" and some things (like vehicles) aren't a write off for the year, but certain amount is allowed to be deducted every year.
But people don't think about the cost outside of the smog. There are costs I can think of half awake before my coffee are:
1. Labor of the person taking the vehicle there.
2. Cost of not using the vehicle for the time that its at the smog place. (Example: so if I'm a small business owner using my only 4500 pickup to trailer equipment to a job that's 250 miles away, I have to either smog it prior or move the job back to comply with the smog. Doing so might take me out of the running for such a job. Either way, twice a year is stupid much less four times a year)
3. Logistics of shuffling vehicles and people to take care of the smog, especially for bigger businesses, who at best may hire two people to do just this or worst, say screw this, shut down and
maybe move operations out of state.
4. Cost of operation of said vehicle.
All which gets past down to the customer and for what. So the people in Sac(k)ramentfo can say "we're protecting the planet".
I feel bad for the people there just trying to make a living and having to jump through stupid. Sadly, whatever CARB decides, other idiots in other states seem to want to follow. Don't even get me started on CARB. Look up the people who make these decisions. They are not scientist, they're environmentalists (well, they're mental).
I'm not even from or living in Kalifornia but when is enough enough?
