I'd say to bump that number of hens up a bit, and eliminate the rooster.My advice is 4 or five hens and one rooster. You’ll have all the eggs you need and not much work or smell. My wife went completely overboard.
If you plan for 20% attrition you're probably safe, so maybe start with 7-8 hens and end up with 4-5
