What is the standard brake setup for Toyota axles on a samurai in 2024?

33-35" tires, will be street driven.

I ordered fj60 rotors and want to keep the Toyota drums out back.

I'm trying to decide if I should order 4cyl or v6 calipers? Do I need a different master cylinder? Is everyone still using the samurai booster?

6 cyl
Heaven forbid the toyota bible ever gets posted in it's entirety here...
I probably have pn's somewhere

Back in the day, stock 1980 Toyota axles worked pretty well with the stock master and booster.
Do you know if the 4cyl ifs calipers need more fluid than the solid axle calipers?

If the fj60 rotors and 4cyl ifs calipers will work well with the samurai master cylinder, that's easy enough.

I want to say they all have the same piston size, but I could be thinking of something else?

FWIW, I bought everything for a 4cyl 88 4runner when I built my crawler (85 reg cab short bed). It was an 88 rear axle and 85 front with vented fj60 rotors. I deleted the rear load sensing proportioning valve, ran 300ZX brake lines from frame to caliper on the front and screwed two stock rear rubber lines together for the drop to the rear axle. Had no problems stopping 36 sxs on steel home made beadlocks as long as the rear brakes were adjusted correctly.

my two pennies.

I too was ok with stock 1985 Toyota brakes and stock Sami master cylinder. Yes the pedal had more travel than stock.

Subaru master cylinder, I forget the part number of car it’s from did reduce pedal travel.

I ordered the 4cyl IFS calipers and Samurai MC.

Everything I see about other master cylinders seems to involve rear disc brakes. Too bad a Toyota booster/MC wont fit.

Hopefully this works well and If I get some new info maybe I will change things up later. I'm not really worried about getting the most braking possible out of this thing, just a balanced system that's safe on the street/trail.
