What's new

The official hybrid vehicle owners thread.

You do know that ford was sued, and ended up having to pay owners residual checks for mileage on the C-max that they over estimated right??

I know this because my dad bought one .

Same here. I have one in my company fleet and got the check

Are you tracking MGP's?

Yes, through fleet management. I do tow trailers and drive 85 mph on the interstate, so mileage isn't spectacular. Power is great though! If I stay around town and keep speeds at 60ish and below, I can get low 20s out of it. If I am fighting a head wind going 80 mph down the interstate with a trailer, I am getting low teens.

but then you gotta deal the the moldy-prius stink
because every one of them just reeks of fishy mold and rot inside
Mine never smells musty, mildewy, or fishy. Only fresh and clean or Deadmau5, nothing in between (its Deadmau5 right now, so it sits until the thing dries out, wherever it was hiding when it croaked).

21 Toyota Venza here. The wife's vehicle. We decided to get on the hybrid train for road trips and longer in state travel when we moved to Fl.

Gets around 50mpg in the city driving and 40s on road trips with her driving, probably 25% less when I'm driving.
Are you tracking miles? I don't believe 50 city 40 highway. Maybe the lie o meter. I have been looking at those or the Crown for a SUV replacement for the wife.

Fords is good at that. Bought a 2014 fusion hybrid based on the posted miles. Didn’t even come close to what what was listed. 2015 a lawsuit and owners got like 900 dollars. Car ended up more in recall than driven. Won’t buy another ford product.

I am not tracking accurately. I don't think it's worth it. What am I going to do, not buy gas?

I can get a more accurate reading. I honestly was going off of a conversation I had with my wife about the mileage a few weeks ago when we took a road trip. it was 600 miles and we got gas twice. That does work out to a bit over 32mpg. Not bad when you consider I make the same trip in my truck all the time at 16mpg.

As far as the 50mpg city is concerned, it is probably more accurate than the highway estimate. I live where there is heave traffic ALL THE TIME (welcome to Fl). There is a lot of time sitting at stoplights and simply not moving. Not moving = higher mpg in a hybrid of course. Other than the road trips the vehicle is used only on local surface streets by my wife. She definitely gets better mileage than I do with driving style.

Sidenote: My MIL likes the vehicle so much she went and ordered the Lexus version (RX-whatever).

So far,

I'm laughing at the Hybrid thread, My brother is driving a manual trans diesel cruz that pulls 45 MPG min. and consistently gets over 50 mixed.
but its a piece of shit chevy, and Diesel is so damn expensive at the pump now.

2021 F150 Crew cab 6.5' bed 4x front leveling kit. Bought about 10 months ago and have put on about 8k miles, gets 20mpg combined. It's fast as fuck boy! Faster than a Raptor 0-60, I had to recalibrate what happens in my mind when I mash the throttle. Rides like a Lincoln and is just as comfortable inside. So far the only issues I've had are the fuel door cover flew off, covered under warranty, the infotainment screen sometimes doesn't turn on and the passenger window auto up down is kinda messed up now. Need to get it into the dealer to fix that and for a service.

:flipoff2:
If the window is doing the bounce back when closed, you can reteach it real quick yourself. Everyonce in awhile I got to do it on one of the Bronco windows.

necrothread. . . almost 1 year later. Strongly looking at 17-19 Lincoln MKZ and Ford Fusion. I didn't see these specific years mentioned, but anyone have experience on the owner or service tech? Seeing a few examples for <$16k, <100k miles, and clean titles in my area. Google'in hasn't deterred my interest yet.

My diesel x5 needs some love and I'm spread thin on time, so I grabbed the 1st respectable cold AC toyota suv on CL, an 07 highlander hybrid. It's got a v6 and scoots pretty well I average 22.5 which I figure is low, but I had 3 consecutive slow leak flat tires:homer:

Maybe I need to calm down on the throttle or I got a thirsty one, dunno. I also idle a fair bit. It is a pretty decent car otherwise, I can see why people like the highlander in general. A while back I did a timing belt on a similar lexus, easy peasy, no fan belts at all, just a balancer and a cover. I bid it high "cuz hybrid" :lmao:
They really liked theirs.

IIRC Provience has experience with the Ford of that era system. He probably also won't babble about dumbass fanboy shit you didn't ask about.

My 16 Prius V just turned 110 thousand miles, 2 sets of tires and no brake pads.
Only trouble I've ever had was when a mouse built a nest in the hybrid cooling system.
Constant 38-42 mpg. Don't drive like my age and it hurts the milage. Wish they still made a V, I'd buy another one tomorrow.

Nope, my [wifes] hybrid is a 2006. The .ain't battery pack is in sad shape, so it gets about 20mph now instead of the about 30mpg it got 5 years ago when we picked it up

It continues to truck along, 120kish miles now. She also runs the a/C constantly out here so no more full electric mode ever.

Battery pack isn't difficult to replace, but I'd rather spend 2 grand rebuilding a motor so she doesn't get the funds to bring it back around. Now that we are at the 5 year mark, it's likely she will be on to the next thing shortly anyways

I've got an 09 Tahoe hybrid in nice shape with 185k miles that I can't seem to get rid of. Nobody is buying them anymore. Used to buy them cheap with some issue with the hybrid system and flip them for a tidy profit after fixing them up, but I've been sitting on this thing for months and months now. I've had a few offers for like $4500 while asking $7500.

I have an 08 with 130k miles on it as well, but it's a wreck. Way worse shape than I was expecting. Bent frame, trans is toast, lifters are shot and the interior is trashed. I'm deciding if I want to part it out or try to fix it up. With being unable to sell the far nicer 09, I'm not sure it is worth it.

My 13 v just hit 200k. Had to replace motor at 183k in May due to a thrown rod which was disappointing. Pretty easy job though at about 8 hrs total.

My 2011 is at 241k. Everything hit in the last 10,000 miles after a decade long run of no problems... I started with replacing the hybrid battery for peace of mind, then the head gasket let go. While the engine was out for the head gasket, I had them replace damn near everything; timing set, water pump, reseal the entire engine, thermostat, plugs, boots, coils... the works. Just before the head gasket let go, I rebuilt the suspension with new shocks, struts, springs, and sway bar and links. Right after the head gasket, it got pads and rotors all four corners to replace the originals.

Right after all that work was complete, the AC evaporator failed.

I probably spent about $7,000 on that damn car this year, but I looked at replacement costs and to buy the equivalent would have been more money for unknown condition and I know this one's maintenance over the past 100,000 miles.

The next thing I will have to replace is the stereo, as the LCD screen keeps going blank. I will probably upgrade to an aftermarket unit with Android Auto.

My 2010 hit 286k. The traction battery was pretty bad and the coolant started showing some consumption. Threw in the towel at that point and sold it what I paid for it after putting on over 100k

Yeah, that was the head gasket. Apparently the 2010-2015 models were notorious for it.

The hybrid battery wasn't bad at all, $850 installed for a rebuilt battery. An old guy runs his little business where he rebuilds them in his garage and comes to you for the installation, anywhere in Minnesota, with a 1-year, unlimited mile warranty. He and his wife have state park passes and bring their dogs along to explore all of them when on these little excursions.

Wonder if you could use off-road diesel because it's not actually connected to the drive?
Should be able to

Even a small class a RV would have such a limited capacity for anything and such an extravagant price tag as to just be terrible.

Guess if it fits the early Tesla model, selling toys as symbols to rich people who don't care other than image, it may be a hit for Thor.

They should really create a new brand to get away from the Thor label though

What is the V model?

I just got an 07 highlander hybrid as well. Actually called the toyota dealer that did the 90,000 mile maintenance on it and was surprised when they told me they never did a timing belt = sshhheeeeeiiiitttttt:mad3:

It has ~160k on it now, so I suppose a timing belt should be at the top of the list to be done. I am wanting to research how hard it is to do so I can decide if I have the time to do it myself.

I drive around 30 miles to work. Driving at 70 on the highway, like the old man I am becoming, I am seeing 26 mpg.

I heard that the company that is building diesel over electric semis got cleared to run offroad diesel:smokin:
