What's new

The I’m too old for this shit thread

Also agree with a real transmission jack and a engine hoist. I just bought the engine hoist and I should have done that a long time ago. Those lift tables look pretty sweet as well as I am working 99% solo or my wife with a bad back decides to help me.

With a pallet jack, engine hoist and a good lift table I can move just about anything around or up I need to work on. The lift tables are rea)y nice for moving something just a bit heavier than you want to do alone from one tool or bench to another.

I'm also thinking like if you need to adjust the height of working on something that would be too tall for the work bench, but annoying to be hunched over and straining your back.

Says they have nine now.
I'm considering the drill winch. I never get the rope puller out to drag snomobiles into trailers because it's too slow, but the drill winch is quick setup.

Not rated for overhead lifting though, like that thing probably is.

I'm a little surprised that it's still at the same price. I had figured they were clearing them out and when they were gone they were gone. Maybe they found another pallet of them? Mine should be here tomorrow.

People get older or get injuries. It's a fact of life. :homer:

I use my mini excavator for a lifting device more often that I use it to dig dirt.

The skid steer gets used to move hay bales and other heavy shit way more than it is used to move or spread dirt.

Amen!

Things I did five or ten (or twenty!) years ago that just wear me out thinking about them now...

We have one of those Warns at work. The only complaint I have is the up/down switch is on the carry handle so depending on what you are tying to and how high you are going it can get awkward quick.

We ultimately bought another hoist with a corded handle

Heat and A/C, just about everything has been mentioned but these are in use probably half the year for me. My hands don't work well in the cold anymore and no drive when it's hot and humid.

Outside of that, gloves either rubber or work depending on what I'm doing. Something to kneel on, foam mat, old carpet, cardboard folded over numerous times just get you'r body off the hard floor. Light, a well lit work area helps a ton with that crappy you're over 40 you need reading glasses horse shit:shaking: Slow the f*ck down and work smarter instead of harder, there's usually a easier on you way to do stuff.

May as well ask what controls are best...

No one cares how you burn fuel already:beer:

I got dad and father-in-law each one of these for Christmas a few years ago. Neither one were all that excited about them. Fast forward a year and I had uncles and cousins wanting to know where I got them. I guess they liked them enough to tell others about them.

TeraPump A-TREP01-001 TREP01 Multi-Purpose Battery Powered Fuel Transfer Pump - 2D Battery, 2.5 GPM https://a.co/d/5dnqCWV

Works great for fueling up the superior to all articulated loader. :flipoff2:

Yes, agreed, the ergonomics on it aren't the best. The other thing is "MAKE SURE YOU KEEP IT CHARGED" I bought a 2nd battery for mine... kinda pointless unless I am away from a charger, because if it dies with a load on it, the stupid tail hook is in the way of getting the battery out to replace it. Twice in the few years I've owned mine I thought "meh, its probably got enough in it" and then I am rigging a ratchet strap in line to support the load while I get enough tension off of the winch to slip the other battery pack in.

It is useful AF though. Here is another pic using it with the skid steer. I built a mezzanine to store some misc stuff on and one of the stringer connections was just a touch out of alignment from the main channel beam having a slight sweep / minor warp from welding the attachment point on.

Standing on a ladder, I had no way to get the beam out so just used the skid as an anchor and the cordless winch. Bolt slipped right in easily.

Quite a bit more trailer than I have.

I use my 4x6 utility trailer as a lawn cart. Surprisingly it doesn’t pop a wheelie. Usually I’m stuck when it ‘should’ pull a wheelie anyway.

I installed 2 hitches on my crapsman. Best $ spent.

Upper for my log splitter and the lower for the 4x6 utility trailer.

That was only 3k on the axles, pin weight was light.
When it stops steering just add to the rear of the load:grinpimp:
Kewl idea on the twin Ball mount

I tried to win a Pullzall at Auction twice last month and kept losing being a cheap ass LOL. Might just have to buy the plug in unit at full pop

I wish someone (looking at you WARN) would come out with a winch, pretty much like the pullzall, that would take any major power tool battery. You would be supplied with an adapter for Milwaukee, DeWalt, Makita ect...

I would buy one ASAP. :smokin:

Air hammers are your friend. I use one all the time at work. Screw hitting everything with hammer, I work with a bunch of neanderthals who thought that was the only way to do things. I'll pull the trigger and let it do the job. I have a ton of bits and chisels to for all kinds of odd jobs.

As as other people have posted knee pads. I'll take all the crap you give me for wearing them, they help big time.

Mine showed up Monday. Have to find some time to try it out.

The battery version would be more versatile, but I expect most of my need to be within reach of an extension cord - and bypass the issues Alex speaks to. And being something not used regularly, it would fall into the category of battery tools I hate - those that never have a charge when I need them, leading to lower battery life.

I got these things a few weeks ago and they're great. I always thought my regular earbuds were doing a good enough job at blocking noise but these are noticeably better. My ears would never hurt or ring at the end of the day but I used to take my earbuds out and feel pressure on my eardrums, no more with these. I can listen to whatever way quieter now too

Used it again this weekend. Pullzall for the win. Instead up and and down the ladder 15 times, trying to steer this counterweight without it snagging in the top of the machine, I was able to steer and lift and stand on a ladder.

You see his friend still down in there on the other side. Awkward heavy bastards.

So those of you that have acquired the Pullzall.. did you know that Todd sells a dang conversion kit for them to go over to synthetic line? The cable on mine is beat to hell, and I even broke it once already (yes, doing something dumb before I had real equipment).

He has two versions of the kit it seems as well. I ordered one yesterday and can't wait to get it.

Looks like there is a 15' kit
WARN PullzAll Synthetic Winch Rope Upgrade Conversion Kit – Custom Splice

and a 20' kit

Good Morning! It should be the opposite, the
I notice that the 20' kit doesn't mention it, but the 15' kit says not for overhead lifting.
1/4 x 15 rope has plenty of capacity to maintain a 5:1 safety ratio for a 1500 lb lift.

The 3/16 x 20 rope goes down to a 4:1 ratio for a 1500 lb lift.

The kits are used all over. I have some pretty random applications I know them being used for.
Float planes into a hanger, using the winch as a capstan,
moving drift wood, once again as a capstan.
I know a few were being used in the Warn Factory, on the manufacturing side.
