Student loan repayment pause about to un-pause

My wife has 9K in school loans, finished school right before the rona. We haven't paid anything on them, but have been busting our asses to get out of debt the last 3 years. Shouldn't be an issue because we have just about everything wrapped up to be 100% debt free except for the school loans and her van. Good to know, though.

Yeah, but LSU apparently has the best program for what she's doing. It's a reading specialty of some sort and she already has the job lined up as soon as the person doing it retires in a few years. Has to make sure it fits the requirements.

She's checking SFA and UT Tyler now.

Fun fact, I'll probably retire soon but I'm a long ways from getting SS and it will be bankrupt by then anyway. It's called working and saving ... you should try it sometime :flipoff2:.

My wife and I paid ours back, all my boys paid theirs back, and we ALL graduated in 2005-2007. No one forgave our payments, there was no pause, there were no jobs, there was no credit available. I still managed to buy a home, 70 hours a week, $10.50 an hour.

GUARANTEED I have paid more into taxes and social security than you and I rarely bitch about it. You live in the greatest Country in the world, and are squatting in one of it's greatest states.

I’m an older genx , but I recall the other options available, instead of being pushed to get student loans. Never too late, as I’m in school now, and the company I’m working for reimburses most of my tuition and books expenses.
 
Meh, guess I should figure out how to pay the loan again. It transferred at least 2 agencies during this. Paying it won't have an effect on me. Mainly was just lazy.

I remember seeing all the dumbasses in college living it up on loans, driving new cars, and living in nice houses and apartments while I was missing most of the parties and dumb shit because I was working 30 hours a week while taking a full engineering course load to pay my way through school. I have no sympathy for you dumb fucks whining about all that money you have to pay back.

Go ahead and call me a "boomer" to try and dismiss my stance; I bet I am younger than you.

EDIT: I also never understood the bull shit about Social Security being unfair. It is a dumb program that I wish you could opt out of because I could manage that money much more effectively than the Social Security administration, but it is not unfair. Until they actually start defaulting on payments, it is not unfair.

My post was based on your implication that people who took student loans are victims, as well your claim that people collecting social security are somehow unfairly benefiting at your expense.

I do not agree with the many lost causes the government pisses away money on, but that has nothing to do with my feelings about student loans.

Because they paid into social security :homer: It is like a big under-performing 401K fund that everyone is forced by the government to pay into. I would be in favor of dissolving the social security system, but it is not unfair. The more money you make, the more you pay in, and the more you get in retirement. It really isn't that difficult of a concept.


I am not talking about fucking Ukraine. Russia can have it for all I care.
