Alright, so I have a Sterling 10.5 superduty axle in my 95 Bronco. With the VSS. Running good other than needs some gearing, which is the plan.

I want to know if I throw in an Elocker (Ford factory locker) will it mess with the VSS that I need since I have a E4OD? I know I can move the sensor to driveline which add more cost and have no interest in doing. I’ve only found peeps to say that it might mess with the VSS, but I’d like to hear more of a for sure answer as to its a problem or not? Anyone?
Thanks.

People are retarded. If the E-locker has the spot for the tone ring then you can run the tone ring and the VSS will be fine. If not you can fuck around like IIRC Provience did to get a tone ring on there anyway and make it work.

Yeah some people are stupid and don’t know the tone ring doesn’t go onto the eLocker without modification. And modifying to fit is the easy part.

Once again, the question is will the elocker engaged fuck up the Vss signal?

Im running one in my 95 F350 with no issues. I don't have a E40d but my speedo works fine

Why would it?

I'm super confused by your question.

The VSS and the elocker wiring are completely unrelated.

I have an E locker on my shelf, I’ll check to and see if it has a tone ring, I’m pretty sure it does.

My understanding the factory Sterling elocker came in 2011 and up f2shitties. At that year then put the tone rings at the wheels, using 2 rear sensors. The carrier tone ring is not hard to modify to make it work onto the elocker carrier.

Here’s what is was asking from reading this. I had read in another forum and a YouTube comment, thst someone said when you engage the locker on (magnetic coil), it could possibly interfere with the Vss signal the sensor is reading and sending to tbe psom which controls the Speedo (minor problem) and can that signal also controls the shifting of the e4od. That’s what I was wondering, when I engage the eLocker will my shifting mess up.

But the locker is ordered and on its way, and I’ll find out for sure once it’s installed.

Seems like we had to extract that information out of you.

I'm surprised to hear this, but at the same time it may make sense depending on how powerful is that magnet and how close it is to the sensor.
I can't help but I'm curious to hear your feedback.

Now let me ask you : why not use an ARB?

prob because these can be found super easy and cheap. Ive got 3 from pull it yards all under $200 each. With the tow ratings f250-f350's have now I'm sure the factory e locker is strong

With all the rednecks putting these in earlier 10.25s in the last decade, you'd think that would be a well-documented problem. I've never heard it mentioned.

The VSS pickup is very close to the tooth, like .020 or something. I'd be amazed if a mag field powered by only 30 watts 6 inches away inside a steel carrier would interfere. But that's just my WAG, because mine's still on stands. :/

I've never heard it mentioned.

I've seen it mentioned while researching. From what I've seen it's a coin flip if it will be an issue. Have also seen the PWM aspect of it brought up and it potentially burning up from being straight switched.

Have to remember many of the swaps to earlier axles have the VSS in the TC, or don't have one at all, so if it can cause interference they'd never know.

Ive read about a few people just hotwiring them with +12 and not having any problems. There's a few people on FSB using them now and thus far no one has complained about VSS issues.

Ship it to me, I'll slap it in my 96 and let you know :grinpimp:

I have the front locker in my Bronco full 12V toggle switched. Been a couple years and no issues to report. Works really well.

The only reason Ford went to two tone rings (one on each hub) is they moved to four channel speed sensing, for traction control, ABS, etc.

:lmao: just checked tracking it’s supposed to show up soon. Fucker says 47 lbs!

I considered Yukons zip locker, but I lve had air locker fail on me twice before. I’ve never had a man elocker and always wanted to try it. These lockers aren’t as cheap as everyone talks about before. Lowest I’ve seen to find it $700 plus. Used I was seeing them for about $500 close to me.

I’ll try and get this installed in the next couple of weeks and see what happens.
