Anyone have experience?

Looking at the quick shift 4 or pcs.read good and bad about both.

1995 7.3 powerstroke, e4od.

Hate the way it shifts, every change takes a custom program.
Thinking of ditching it all.

Also have a gear vendor. The first Gen quick shift had provisions to include and control that, do the newer ones?

My 3rd shift is piled on with torque converter lock up. Overdrive comes in way too soon. Want to set gear vendor to come in at 75mph.

Anyone deal with this?

Thanks.

I mostly shift mine by hand. It constantly shifts WAY too early.

That doesn't change shift points, orleast doesn't on mine

Needs to be programmed to adjust shift points and pressure
That is the exact problem I have now.

If I have a ts chip and don't like the shift points I have to send it back and have them make a change and pay more money and wait weeks.
Then if I don't like the new one I repeat the process.

I have a hydra now, atleast they can just email me changes but I have to pay for every change as a custom tune.

I am tired of dealing with tuners that don't care or don't know or just don't listen.

Exactly, I want it ti almost shift like a manual. So many rpms, shift. Every gear or lockup.

I read that the us shift quick shift is easy to program and you can have 4 saved programs like towing, mpg, daily and race.
But guys have said they cannot control tc lockup like other gear changes.

The pcs I read has a lot more control but much more difficult to setup.

With either unit you can control how hard it shifts too. Soften them up for daily and firm them up for towing.
My trans is pretty well built and no matter what I do it will give head snapping shifts.

John Wood was your man. Unfortunately he has closed his shop and retired. He built my trans and all the problems you list went away.

Interested to see what's up. I'm going to be doing a e4od swap using stock pcm as standalone trans controller.

Do you like the quick shift better or worse than the stock pcm was?

I built my trans with all the upgrades.

Used the tugger 2 HD kit. Since the day I put it in the truck I have been trying to get softer shifts.

Thought about a different valve body but there are many directions you can go. A stand alone that will give me total control including line pressure and controlling my gear vender would be the easiest for my setup.

You can get quick firm shifts without making it feel like the drives haft is gonna come out.

How much are these parts ?

Microsquirt runs the e4od great. I have 1 running an e4od and another one running a 4r70w right now.

What went into your trans? Any valvebody work done?

I’m not ford smart, but is there a TV cable on this trans to adjust? Loose TV cable can cause early upshifts, although don’t explain the neck snapping shifts.

From my experience with 47RE, they upshift based on VSS despite the output shaft sensor data. I found that out when I severely misconfigured the Dakota signal converter :homer:. Maybe it’s Vice verse for ford?

I tried transgo’s shift kit in my 47RE first, as full replacement built valve body is $$$. Plagued with killing governor solenoids and neck snapping shifts. Ponied up for Goerend’s valve body… wished I did it sooner. Shifted nice and crisp.

On the newer 7.3Ls is all electric.

The throtlle peddle is just a reostat.

Mine will about stall the engine with lugging cause it shifts way too early. Like overdrive at 35-40mph early, when it should be more like 55

Yep ahnate covered it well. All electronic. You can run the transmission with toggle switches.

I did the tugger 2 HD valve body kit with calibration plate. I had read a bunch about what size holes to drill the plate at. You have options.
I am at the smallest of the 3 options now and 1-2 isn't bad but the rest are all still harsh. The kit comes with valve springs. Plus I already had the sonnax tricumulator kit.

Since I cannot control line pressure currently there is little else I can so.

Also when I built my trans I set all the clutch pack to .025" so there isn't much gap to close when it shifts.

Transmission controller? $500-$1500 depending on what you want to buy or what functions, or how much control you want.

Honestly want it to shift a lot like the 5r110 in my son's 6.0

Was thinking of ECM for 3500 silverado 6.0l gas or 6.6l diesel.

I had to look up what "tugger 2 HD" kit is. Pretty much a transgo shift kit/reprogram kit, similar to what I tried, as stated above.

I recommend try something else, as that clearly is not working out for you. Neither it did for me... A built valve body to drop right in will be a place to start. I wish I did it sooner in my 47RE.
