Sprayer diaphram pump weatherproofing

I purchased one of these

and wanting to mount it on my ibc tote. My question is, can I leave it mounted upright, exposed to the rain and all? Or is this the type of thing rhat should be indoor/covered away from rain snow etc.

Worst case is, can I build a little enclosure for it to cover the top, or should the whole thing be enclosed in something?

Being a diaphragm pump you should be able to mount it in any orientation.

And being 12VDC you should be able to leave it outdoors, personally I'd throw a tote or cover over it when I wasn't using it though.

My concern is water getting inside the motor itself. Upright posiiton works good because I have a filter on one side of it. It looks pretty sealed, but at 200 dollars Id like it to last more than a season

so toss a bit o sheetmetal or plastic atop it

see also; ain't it gonna freeze and bust the pump
