Spinoff. Investing in guns and ammo

Can't go wrong with class 3 items.

Only so many out there.

Desire to own them is doing nothing but increasing.
Until we get someone in office with enough balls to repeal the Hughes amendment and watch the bottom fall out of boomers’ retirement plans faster than beanie babies in the 90s.

That wouldn’t upset me at all. :smokin:

is that actually a partial case of proof loads?

If you had scooped up some of the better SKS's 20 years ago (Russian,Yugoslav) they are going for over $1K on Gunbroker.
What were the "good" ones going for back then? I don't think even the bottom of the barrel ones were under $100 this century and $150->1k over that time period puts you at roughly same rate of return as boring market investments.

i remember 59 bucks for a chink one, and 59 bucks for 1200 rds of Russia ammo.

Just saw this in the meme thread.

$.52 if you buy 12500 and $.55+ if you buy 20-900.

Friend of mine and I talked about buying one of these back when prices were really cheap...still kicking myself for not going ahead with it.

Aren't you in California?
That will change things if you are.
If you are setting out to "make a profit" the atf will want you to have an ffl. You can get firearms shipped directly to you that way and don't have to pay transfer fees.
In reality you have missed the boat on buying surplus guns and ammo. With all the panics in the last 20 years pretty much all the good surplus has been bought up. Russian stuff is bringing stupid money because of the sanctions and import bans.
Money can be made buying estate collections, but you'll usually have to buy the whole lot and get stuck with 9 ho hum boring guns tor every worthwhile one.

Nope you need a separate writter for a decent payout
Yes, but insurance knows whats up. If I want the exact same guns back, You have to buy them and turn in the receipt and they will reimburse you. If i wanted cash, they cut you off at the kneecaps.

Depends on what they are. I have a few older one that I cant get receipts for ever. Pure blue book values. And one of them is uncommon enough its not listed in the bluebook…

Yeah, I can't replace some of the family guns. For the rare one, I'd have a separate rider or great details of it saved digitally and physically.

I’ve done a lot of buying, selling, and trading ever since I turned eighteen. There are a few I’ve regretted selling over the years. Nothing is for sale now.
Same here man. Got a handful I'd love to have back and can't even remember what I spent that cash on. Sucks.

Never understood that kinda thinking. They are just stuff. If I'm not using them or want something else more.. I sell em if they are worth anything. There are a few exceptions obviously.

i have said many times there is a difference between collecting and enjoying guns and hording them. i know some horders and its actually sad because they never really get to shoot and or enjoy their guns, because they are just obsessed with obtaining more.

ive sold plenty over the years and not a single one ive regretted. if im looking to sell one, i have no draw to it anymore at all and it gets to go start its new life with someone else as its caretaker. its probably why i dont have a closet full of $100 turkish shotguns and over-valued Mosins or SKSs.

I know a few folks that are always wheelin an dealing on the forums. Buy something, play with it for 4 months or so. Maybe pull some parts off it and sell the thing.

They seem to break even or make a few bucks each time. Get to play with a lotta different toys that way.

Ditto....can only shoot one ( OK, 2 ) at a time.

OR passed UBC almost 10 years ago now, it totally killed the secondary market...I used to rotate through stuff a lot, sell old to finance new...now, I can't remember the last time I sold one, been years...

What pisses me off about UBC is all the piece of shit old men who fancy themselves "law abiding citizens" who support it despite otherwise being gun guys. Takes a special kind of stupid to think it wouldn't be implemented as a backdoor registry or as a way to kill the secondary market.

My dad bought mine and his for $75 each back in the 90s.

Unfortunately I sold mine for $350 around 2010 to pay a bill. It's probably still floating around Vallejo doing drive bys or something similar
