Spinoff of my own thread.

I like the idea of investing in guns, and possibly ammo. My son in law buys and sells a lot of guns and always seems to make decent money. I have a few, but nothing that would be really considered "investment" guns. They're all just average pew pews.

If IBB was to buy guns, and maybe ammo, what would you buy?

Where's the best place to buy?

Best to buy new and leave it in the box?

The best investment guns to buy are the ones people want to get rid of, example I purchased a Mossberg tacticool pistol grip shotgun for $150 because dude was going into the peace core and his mom didn’t want it around. He just wanted to get rid of it. Three days later I sold it for $300, probably a little too cheap, but I didn’t care it was gone and I didn’t lose money or have to pick it up and wipe it off 100 times.

I recommend avoiding buying collections like this unless you’re really bored, have lots of room and like going through piles of shit.

Be selective! buying every collection you come across just because it’s a “good deal” is how you get 50 sets of 38 special reloading dies and all the other old stuff nobody gives a shit about anymore.

Gun dealer in Rutland was bitching about the 75 so so shotguns he hasn’t sold that he bought in the last year for 25 to 50 bucks apiece.

Is this true? Text from my SIL.

"It’s also worth noting that the ATF has gone forth with a new ruling where if you sell more than one gun a year privately, you are required to get an ffl. They are going after people for this now. They are pulling traces and contacting owners. They’ve also added new questions against reselling on the form"

If you're not familiar with theis rule or the controversery around it, you probably don't want to invest in guns.

They would never put an actual number on it. The number of guns you buy or sell before being considered a dealer is going to be up to their discretion.

Yet another rule that will be smacked down eventually.

I wouldn't want to invest or resell, as that may get cross wise with f uckh Ed s.

But if a fella had say, a 10k firearms coverage on his home owners insurance, and had a collection of rather generic firearms, in common calibers that were popular amongst the Americans, nothing crazy, nothing particularly high end or custom or with fancy optics or anything, but more rough and tumble bare bones higher capacity "truck gun" type stuff, and he built himself a nice collection when things were cheap. Then things changed politically and somehow those things rose to above the level of his insurance coverage, he may decide to liquidate some of his collection so that his valuables were not at risk of not being covered by his insurance. Then if things changed and values dropped, he could rebuild his collection.

Theoretically

The biggest problem with gun retail and the modern "newb" gun buyer is you get vid watching i want the best all around for the best price doesnt know jack shit but thinks he wants the cool names.

So you can buy otc bulks from major distributers or buy lowers and build to spec's.
Youll get hm ha's and prices shoppers with one, and delays/backlogs with the other.

You can get after and sink a fuck ton of money into sitting on a lot of "cool" rifles

Its all a crap shoot and money suck so you realy need to think about the type of customer you want to cater to.

I can tell you that in my 200mil radious i have only found 1 "gun shop" that has a varity of ar parts. Most have at least 1 type of something, enough to build a basic gun sometimes. Just about every store you can walk into will have magpul shit and sometimes for different types of guns. Nobody has multiple bolts, handgaurds, barrels, grips, etc.

Guys, guys, guys.

Chill out.

He's not a fed.

He's just fucking retarded.

You can tell by the username.

Tell him you know a guy who'll buy a couple of them for $75 :flipoff2:

OP, buy low and used and sell high. Pretty simple
