Spinoff: Are you close with your family?

Nope,

Mom and dad both passed away now. Oldest step brother left house when I was like 8. Saw him a couple of times over the past few years. But now his wife has passed away, don't see him much. Other step brother I disowned after not even calling when our brother passed away last year. Sister I only saw last year at my brothers funeral. Only texted her once since then.

Both of my kids don't talk to me either. One is a tree hugger who thinks she can home school her kid with youtube and video games. And my son is just a user of people.

There are days I don't even wanna talk to my wife but she keeps coming home. LOL

My brother and I are super close even being 2500 miles apart, talk/text almost daily. Went out and saw him for the first time in 10 years back in April, was like we saw each other yesterday.
My parents are 700 miles south, see them every couple of years, chat weekly, their situation is degrading, trying to get them to move back up here...
Extended? Mom has 7 brothers and sisters, I'm first of 13 cousins...couldnt tell ya last time I talked to any...all blew to the wind....Dad has one brother who is just a douche, havent seen him in almost 15 years and thats fine by me.
My in laws are awesome, get together for dinner prolly once a month, do stuff with my FIL all the time, very lucky in that respect.
My kids are super close to one another, hope ot stays that way.

Family by chance, friends by choice.
I have 3 bros and a half sis and we are spread out all over the place. Stay in touch with them all, call once a year maybe, make a point to get together when passing through each other's area. Talk to parents weekly (they are about 800km away, see them every 3 to 4 yrs. We are all friends, no drama, but at the same time not what I would call 'close'. We share interests, care about each other and would help each other out at the drop of a hat, but I'm not travelling 600kms to visit a city I hate for my bros bday or anniversary.
