Been in the power industry for 43 years.
I believe I will finally retire next year right after my 44th anniversary .


Stated at at steam electric generating station.
Moved into system operations.

Now I teach different classes on how to do that type of stuff.
 
14 years as a Civilian "EDO" in charge of testing all things nuclear and nuclear related on New Construction/Overhaul Submarines.

Is that Susquehanna? I’ve worked outages there. They abbreviate SSES.

I teach most of the classes for the apprentice operators now, I hope to part ways and do my own thing at 55 in 18 months.
 
What is the staffing over there?
More than you'd think... 20 or so operators and shift supervisors. Probably around 30 maintenance personnel, plus line crews, planning and engineering, and other support staff. We also cover various small hydro stations that are operated remotely.

Nope. I have always been non nuke.

I teach everything from basic electricity up to power system dynamics. Depends on which class it is that week.

I have some stories.
Either you live a charmed life, and don't see anything.
Or you have a black cloud over your head and shit just break when you walk into the room.

Now, some stories aren't mine. I was off that day.
But yes, I've seen some stuff.
Tell some of the stories in my classes because they help make a point.
