What's new

speed strap

Kind of a neat idea and I could see where it would come in handy. Saying weaving it through itself multiple times is faster than a screw pin shackle is a bit of a stretch though.

It says 14k lbs breaking strength and also says you can pull 14k lbs. I don't understand that.

This right here makes it a choker hitch, which reduces the strength by roughly 50%. So to pull 14k you need a breaking strength of over 28k lbs.

What am I missing?

I don't think you are missing anything. I'm not sure this is something I would want to use in a kinetic application. But I'm willing to look at it.

It's a tow strap and not to be used for kinetic recovery.

I have one for about 15 years now. Use it alot in the jeep for recovery of cars and bon 4x4 rigs. Weaving does that some time but don't have to unscrew a pin. Faster who knows, not so worried about speed.

Being able to adjust the length is nice. Mine is a bit shorter as some retard tied one end in a knot rather then weave it back in and had to cut it off.

Then it is next to useless to me. Only time I would want a non kinetic strap is for a tree saver application.
I carry a winch line extension to use as a non kinetic strap. Packs up small and nice and light. I was curious of this but seems to be just another way to skin a cat.

so you just use a old winch rope? that would be easy. and especially if its just a tug or pressure to keep the front end down that would be easy

Not that I'm suggesting you buy this tow strap, or anything else for that matter, but in general I find it better to have something like this in case of need rather than need it and not have it.

I carry too much stuff as is. No need to carry something more that I don't think I will need. 125' of rope on the winch is plenty for my wheeling. If I'm gonna use a strap, I want it to be kinetic.

I'm not anti this strap, just don't see it for my needs. If it was kinetic, I would be open to it.
