So I’ve been getting recorded spam calls from a tax place. I block the number and they call again from a differnt number. I listened to there recording and it say “push 9 to be removed from our call list”. Done that 20 times. They call back in 3 minutes. I have been called at least 100 times by this outfit. I waited to get to a live person. As soon as he figured out I wasn’t buying, hung up. Still called back in minutes. At this point, I’m ready to get violent.

A search says I can sue for $1500 per call. Anybody tried this?

Google assistant comes in handy for shit like that, let it handle the call, it will also send you a text version of the call, so that could come in handy

Idk wtf happend but in the last month ive gone from at the most 1/mo to 50/mo.

My phone a has a "potential spam" header so that jusy gets ignored or declined. Occasionaly ill be bisy and just answer with out looking and know i fucked up.

Neat, I’m going to look into that.

Could you explain?

Works on desktop or your phone. I have mine tied to my actual phone number and on my phone so I can receive calls and texts at either number. Originally signed up for selling shit on Clist so I didn't have to give random people my phone number. Now basically everyone that isn't close friends or family gets the Google Voice number and not my actual phone number.

The call filtering is now built directly into Android, but at the time it wasn't and I used it to screen calls. You can set it so that the AI assistant screens the calls and asks people to tell it who they are and why they're calling. Info gets displayed on the screen and allows you to answer or decline the call while viewing what they say. Only applies to callers not saved as a contact.

If you have an apple product, you can set it up to block unknown calls and send them to voicemail. Since that, I stopped receiving calls. Before that I had a record of 12 minutes of keeping the telemarketer on the line.
Those are rookie numbers.
My personal best is 50 minutes. At the end of the call their supervisor and I were talking about hookers and cocaine. He admitted he was in Pakistan and the very last thing he said to me “ok, talk to you tomorrow”
I just about pissed my pants laughing

I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know. I got tired of seeing them come up, so after some searching I found the following:

I only use it to block calls that are not in my contacts, but it can be used for SMS/MMS too.

It's easier to install if you install the F-Droid repository program. It's all opensource and free.

Good luck...

I used to get calls daily offering to clean the hvac ducts. After repeatedly asking them to stop calling me I said fuck it and started booking their services… to an address I moved out of in 2010.
They made three trips there before they stopped calling me.

Once you learn what prompt gets you a live person, hit it right away and when a person responds start hitting numbers to beep on your phone for a minute. Thats what I used to do on my work landline until I got an answering machine to screen calls.

Yep. My phone lives on DND mode, if you're not on the list I'll barely even know you called. I don't answer anything I don't have saved and if you don't leave a message I'm certainly not calling back.

1. Ask them where to send the check to

2. Drive there and hurt people

3. ???

4. Profit

I haven’t had a random robo-call in a while, I had three “scam likely” calls today. I block the number and move on.

I have let them transfer me to the 'next guy' after they sell the sales pitch
on about the fourth guy selling me whatever they were selling and we get the the credit card number and they are ready to enter it into the machine
I get about four make believe digits into the card number and I ask them if I have wasted enough of your r time yet, or should we keep going?:grinpimp:

they get man and call you names
also....I enjoy seeing the Jehovah Witnesses come down the block

Some guy on youtube had a clip of being on no call lists and filing claims against a bunch of companies, bragging how he bought his BMW doing this. Have no clue on that but sounds interesting enough.

In other news, back in the old days I had a trick that worked. I would call a deactivated number and record the announcement I got of "The number you have dialed has been disconnected". My phone had the ability to play a chosen outgoing message for voicemail so I made this recording that alternative message. Anytime I'd get spam calls, I'd push the button and they would hear the disconnected announcement and that was the end of it.

I cant pull this off in the business world:mr-t:
