In. Spent most of the time I've been awake fighting Linux mint issues. As much as I dislike windows, fixing all the shit that doesn't work in Linux is absolutely mind melting, and I consider myself slightly above average on computer shit.

Still don't have it fixed, switched back to windows and the shit just works. Piss ya right off

In. Headed out this morning and picked up a maintenance/groundskeeper cart for my mom to use around her place. Modified it so it'll start in neutral instead of the pedal start in gear only golf cart setup it had going on. Hope she likes it, if she doesn't I'll be headed for the Kawasaki dealer since the used side by side market is a joke around here.

Laying around with a wicked headache now.

Drive to Jacksonville this evening to estimate a job on Monday bright the wife currently watching tv in the hotel. It’s pretty nice.

Rented another Tacoma 23 trd spot last month had a 24 trd sport

These trucks and features are night and day. I can honestly say there is no logic or enjoyment driving a 2005-2023 Tacoma. Glad I rented it has given me amazing insight. They suck 😂 in every way compared to a 24 with coil rear suspension.

Oh and stopped at Bucees Daytona it was her first time hearing of it or being in one.

should be asleep. gotta get up at 4 am and head home. 1000 miles tomorrow. sucks but it'll get done.

that's a lot of miles:eek:

Had a co-worker ask me if any of my folks found her wedding ring that she lost at the event on Thursday. This coworker also happens to be a neighbor who lost her husband last year unexpectedly.

I put the word out to the staff and sure as shit, it was found, sucked up by a vacuum and a bit fucked up, but it was found and left in the custodial closet.

I let the coworker/neighbor know we found it, and I would go grab it tomorrow and get it to her. Got a text about 15 minutes ago that it is now missing again:mad3: I'm fucking pissed. We have a renter that uses the facility, and I have my suspicions, but have called the police to report the theft. It's probably a 15-20k ring.

I'm fucking LIVID and if my suspicions are true this will be the end of the renter and I won't be sad to see them gone:flipoff:

Massive storm front just blew in. Went from 80 and sunny to green clouds and massive thunder and lightning with sustained wind around 40 and gusts well north of that. Cut 2 trees off my neighbors driveway and I’m soaking fucking wet. A good time was had by all. Next squall of rain just started. I am good with the rain and wind. Way too fucking dry to have that much lightening.

Checking in.

Youngest kid came down from Chico so we could all go to a store that specializes in crystals, tarot cards, and other such things today. Last night we had tacos and margaritas for dinner. Margaritas continued into the wee hours of the morning (I went to bed just after midnight, Mrs and the kid stayed up until 0300 chatting)

After some food this morning, me and Mrs went to the crystal shop. Youngest was alive, we sent Elliot in to check.

The shop was kind of what I was expecting, we were greeted by a young lady who reminded me of the typical “Moon beam” type I would encounter in Berkeley way back when. I don’t get the crystal thing, but nobody is getting hurt yet so ¯\(ツ)

Dinner was Bulgogi and rice :smokin:

We are currently watching “The Middle”.

It got pretty nasty down here pretty fast. Not quite 40mph on the winds but I was pretty impressed with some of the shittier trees on the neighbor's place and their ability to bend. Swear it got dark in the time it took me to walk out to the shop and back.

Called my aunt to let her know about my nephew's baby and that they had named her after mom, we both ended up bawling! Called mom's hair dresser samething happened, she told me I need to go see and hold that baby!
I guess I need to plan another, I am alive trip, like last year.

Pretty good shift overall. I got put in charge and had to supervise and got a trainee but it went well. A unit got locked down due to stupid shit and will remain that way till at least monday when 'important day shift people' can reevaluate the situation.

Dumbass.

Nothing of value is left unsecured if you want to keep it.
Leaving it in the custodial closet was the real failure.

I've gotten good at googling my problems then copy-pasting code into the terminal with no idea at all what it's doing

it's gonna make you laugh when in two months it just works in loonix too
you didn't do anything but let the uptime counter tick up a couple months worth, but for whatever reason, suddenly it works now

finally got around to putting the smaller oil pump sprocket on the car
we'll see tomorrow what the oil pressure looks like
they make a different tensioner to go with the smaller sprocket but I didn't want to take the timing belt off to screw with that, so first I tried filing down the pump's flange to get it to line up at the next tighter link, that worked but I'd need a half-link and going any shorter would make the pump hit the crank
so I shimmed another pump out a little bit from the block with a gasket where there was previously none, chain's still loose and flappy but slightly less so than it'd be otherwise
ain't like it's gonna fall off, right?
just watch for the post about it having fallen off lol

Me too. Still can't find a solution that actually works.

My problem is that my media files are on a ntfs drive, and nothing I do gives programs access to said drives/files. So when I open a program, and go to point it in the direction of the files, it can't access/see/anything to do with that drive, even though it's mounted and available. I can use the drives/files as a user without problems.

If I try to share the folder I get a garbage message that says "unable to share files due to [some verbage that is just garbage]" (I'd have to go back and look again)

that's really wierd because all my drives that aren't OS are NTFS

it does freak out on every reboot though, stuff like 'audacious' mp3 player needs to rescan the drive's contents every time, it loses track of everything in there every time you shut the computer off (or probably just every time the drive is mounted)

Now wait a cotton picking minute! According to all the "Experts" on here "Linux " is supposed tobe the be all end all, now you are telling me it isn't after all this years of urging everyone to use it?

Nonono, it is the best thing ever.

Like IPAs and beards and tattoos and fixed gear bicycles and "man caves" and all that other stupid hipster shit.

Honestly this is the first real problem I haven't been able to solve pretty easily. I don't even understand why it's a problem.

The other odd one that kinda pissed me off was flatpack program packages, took a while to figure out how to get them working like a normal program. It shouldn't be that hard.

Now if I switched everything over to whatever file system Linux is using (ext?) I bet my problem would go away . I think.. but I'm not ready to pull that trigger.

I am pretty sick of all of Microsoft's crap. This does fix all of that. Just a new set of crap, but i think this time it's actually user error.
