Just nip that shit in the budd now, when they get bigger and start flying theyre a hell of a lot harder to shoot.

really long SD flat meplats handle water the best

something like a real heavy VLD 6.5mm or a backwards loaded (but solid boat tail base) 100+ gr .224 would likely do best for flying straight
those russian underwater ones are real neat to see how they actually work, they're mostly stabilized by the back end rattling around in the temporary cavity formed in the water
 
Fishing rod and bait
Floats are set and forget.

I used to put out floats with cut bait in our cove until I figured out all I'd catch on them was turtles. Expecting a catfish, the first platter sized turtle I pulled up in a kayak was quite a surprise. He was not in a good mood. We had several more get the lines tangled in brush and drown. After that, we switched to live gills off the bottom on a rod and reel. Live gills can dodge the turtles, and 80-90% of the time there's a cat on the line in the a.m.
