Sixes and Sevens traveling studio build

The fiancée is a tattoo artist and opened her own shop last year. Her dream has always been to have a traveling shop in a bus and go to events and work there ect.

Decades ago, there was a "tattoo bus" at the Carlisle Car shows. Always a lot of activity going on there. Easy way for a young guy to hang around nearby and see all sorts of female flesh back before the intardnet...

I wasnt around much for the demo of the inside but once it stared to come apart found a lot more rot then we had expected. front corners, front floor, rear roof section as well all had rot and needed to be replaced

I'm always amazed at how much wood is in these things. It seems metal studs would be a much better option for both weight and rot resistance.

Sheet Vinyl floor gets my vote.

Just what I was going to say. Epoxy is only as good as the substrate it is applied to. Sheet vinyl is going to be solid.

Cool idea. From a business perspective it might be a little bit problematic though. Working on a fixed location you establish a reputation, customer base, referrals, etc. Travel around and all that is gone unless you’re to the level where you’re somewhat famous, like the kat von d chick. Maybe people don’t really care, or a photo board of her artwork is enough, but I’d be hesitant to get a tattoo from a random person at an event. Guess it’s going to be simpler stuff as there won’t be multiple sessions.

You have no idea what goes on at hippie music festival shitshows.

Dude's gonna make money hand over fist. People will be beyond thrilled he's got a "real studio"

I agree that it'll be a cash cow. Just keep stuff at an hour or two max and send em through. Some whatever unique to each event and everything out of a book.

Have a regular office of people want more involved stuff, but it may do well enough as just a traveling road show.

I think social media basically nulls this

this is a business adder as she has her own full time shop with a second artist as well. Will be going to motorcycle rally's, offroad races, festivals and hopefully even weddings as thats becoming popular as well. like Yotaatie said social media takes care of advertising it and building the brand name and can show all the art on there ect. most work done will be small flash thats quick and easy ect

have sold her and myself on the mini split idea so will be going that way. like the idea that it will not be as loud and use less power to run. will be more upfront cost but save it on the back end when dont need a new heater and can get a smaller generator as well.

was on the fence about this part of the project, rear door wasnt that tall and would hit my head on it. knew it wasnt going to be great for loading the bikes and i was going to have to add to the ramp. was going to hold off and maybe make the door bigger down the road but after finding more rot by the door and some damage it forced my hand. cut the door frame and added 22" to it so now its 7'1" tall. will extend the door itself later once back at my place. reason for the weird height of the new door opening is there used to be a window above the door so had to build the frame to that height so could cut and reuse the exterior tin.
