Went snow shoeing with my girlfriend yesterday 4/15/23. Started at the plow line (first dam at Loon Lake) and made it to the top of the slabs overlooking the granite bowl. There’s still so much snow it’s laughable. I don’t think it will be much better by Memorial Day weekend. It’s going to be an interesting year up there and a ton of water.

Anybody been up in last week or so?
I'm headed up tomorrow, with the intentions of camping around Loon lake saturday night. I'll chime in with some pics upon my return.

There are some pics from a few days ago floating around on facebook/insta. Still a bunch of slushy melting snow, not ideal 4wheeling conditions.

Has anyone been up to the Loon Lake side of the Rubicon in the last few days?
I would like to get up there soon but am curious about the current snow conditions.

The rest of the trail is just wet.

Good info, thank you!
Time to prep the old trail rig.

Soup bowl was clear of snow, very wet. Little sluice had snow in the bottom and top. A little bit of snow at the top before dropping into Indian trail and old sluice. Coming up old sluice I broke a warn hub and backed out. The top of old sluice had a bunch of snow.

I’m planning in heading up Friday after work or early Saturday morning from Chico. Anyone else going up? I’ll be in a clapped, black 2nd gen 4 runner. Come have a beer or bourbon.

I'll be up there sun-tues. How long will you be out for?

Rubicon is now passable from Loon to Tahoe. I cruised through in the JKU on 40s. 2big bronco barely struggled in his 21 Bronco on 37s. Gladiator on 35s and JKU 35s both on had to winch a couple times, mostly from getting turtled.
