Rolex 24

Do they make 'em run strictor plates to knock 'em down to 105hp from 110hp?
I get the sarcasm

The MX5’s are 180 ish. The racing is really close as noted. Obnoxiously loud. Not rotary obnoxious but uncorked 4 cylinder almost Honda bad

Racing was good. I know a couple drivers in the field. The older guys do not suck on a high amateur level yet are being destroyed by a couple 16 - 17 year olds.

Drivers meeting stated max 2 seconds bumper to bumper. Can just imagine a bunch of timing and scoring to figure that out when the train of them was up on the oval.

If nothing else that series teaches good race craft.

Brief observations from America’s home of speed. Dirty. Nasty. Speed.

The new GTPs are sexy beasts. Very sexy. Very distinct from each other. Very fast. Look outstanding on the banking at night. All of the teams are a little worried about the unknown and what software issues may crop up. Except Penske. I have to think they are favored to win. The original car has in excess of 50k kilometers on it. More than half at Sebring. I think Daytona is just the first goal. Mr Roger needs a LeMans trophy to complete his collection of every major race trophy there is.

My old team WinWard. #57 had a wicked off at the exit of 1 yesterday. Totaled. Going to be a long night getting the spare car built. A pity as they were on GTD pole.

I remember an interview with Randy Pobst talking about driving an early MX5 flat out through the corkscrew. He was/is a fan.

First time in several years I am not doing the grid walk tomorrow. Stayed home because daughter is singing National Anthem before tipoff at local Uni men's bball game. Some things you can't miss...

I am very interested in the new Porsche prototype program. I am certain that Penske is favored. As you know XtremeJ, they don't enter into competition lightly; they canned all other factory and factory-backed efforts to push the GTP class this year.

And "fangers" to Cadillac - the only thing about that car that is remotely related to GM is the name/sticker. At least with Porsche you can walk into any dealership and order a GT3RS on a Bill of Sale and go race it....

Looked at the TV coverage and it seems like a zoo but Peacock claims to be broadcasting flag to flag.

I hope outside of the speedway isn't a zoo right now. I am planning to get takeout from over that way tonight. There have been some nice sounding engines coming from the speedway all week.

Forgot to add

The most fans I have seen in at least ten years. Maybe ever. The infield was packed and even outside the track was full by Thursday. With the huge increase in manufacturers displays there is definitely less camping infield spaces than before.

Grapevine says IMSA had over 75 genuine entry applications. 62 start tomorrow I think

Turn out looks better than last year for sure, a wee bit warmer weather this year probably helps.

I've heard Porsche has already had to swap out a mgu. But hopefully everyone has good success and we get some good flag to flag racing with the new gtp lineup. Otherwise, we might see a lmp2 car take the overall checker.

sucks. I saw them take pole but I didn't see the off.

want to hold hands? no homo.

Perhaps a beer down the road, I have taken it on road trips before, longest was Utah to Wisconsin.

A good friend lived there, we did Great River Road portion on Minnesota/WI side. That UT/WI trip was like 3700 miles or so, a young kid at La Crosse did a double take and asked me if I drove it there hahaha.

My friend sports a ZZ Top style beard, and both of us wore jeans and flannel work shirts. Top down - heater on.
Looks we got along the way were priceless. Even stopped at some fancy restaurants hahaha.
A ton of fun was had, at that time he was fighting Lymes disease, was pretty worried about him...
