Negative to the battery, or negative to the winch solenoid.

both sides of all solenoids get 13.2 volts when I throw the switch.

So the switch you have is style "b" but its not even that either.

Youre still not providing ground to the sols, the ground on your dia. Is for the light in the switch.

You need to run a grounding wire from the sols to the switch or to the ground lug on the winch.

Did you test like i suggested last?

total newb is it because I have a double pole switch I need to run a ground to the solenoids? The link below uses a double throw single pole and doesn’t mention a ground wire to the solenoids.

I pulled the in cab controls out when the switch broke last night plugging/unplugging things.

Using buttons means no ground to the solenoids.

Single pole rocker

I dont understand what youre not understanding about this.

It can be done several ways. You can use either style of switch, but youre absolutely refusing to acknowledge that you you arent providing a ground. You could almost say its a running problem.

From the rebuild thread, in which you commented on. This pigtail lead has 4 wires, do you understand why?

Yes, yes it is.

Your winch has no natrual ground.
You need to run a wire either to the switch for the ground (which you do not currently have) or you need to ground the sols at the winch, youre not doing either.

That pig tail has 4 wires. 12v +, con #1, con #2, and ground. You are not grounding anything but the switch light at the moment.

total newb is correct... you MUST provide ground. Can either provide from an on/off "arming" switch or (more correctly) from the directional switch.

I messed with this for too many hours when I did my two Warns.

total newb i wasn’t making the (brain) connection the 12 volt circuit had to connect positive to ground as rockota said. I was having a MASSIVE mental block. The diagram you proved is perfect.

akguy09 losing the remote, or having dead batteries would suck. I also don’t think I’ll ever be so far away from the vehicle I’ll need wireless controls.

White on the solenoids is the ground (same color as trailer connection wiring).
Brown to black.
Green to green.
White ground joined to in cab ground I was previously using without connecting it to the solenoid.
12 volt power from the cigarette lighter.
