Ok, so today‘s ice boxes don’t freaken last like the used to. My 6 yr whirlpool just shat the bed. Any advice from y’all as
for what to replace it with?

I think they all suck nowadays. We've been happy with our LG but it's only about 4 years old yet.

Wife is buying a Big Chill fridge, we'll find out how long it lasts and I may update this in a few years:flipoff2:
It's made in USA and she likes the way it looks, if that first part matters to you:homer:

the $4K one ??

Bought a maytag 25 or so CF 15 years ago, it still works, even with the many PG&E PSPS, over the last 3 or 4 years.

Craigslist. $100-150 gets you a nice used one from someone who replaced it with a $3,000 one. Sometimes they are even free. Other than some elbow grease because people are gross, I have had good luck with used ones.
X2

Same with washer/dryers.

I will never buy big appliances brand new when old ones do the same thing, sometimes better

Scratch and dent x2. I got a very nice $3000 stainless Maytag for half price 7-8 years ago because it had a tiny ding. It’s also been a flawless appliance.

I'd rock a Kelvinator, if you don't mind the industrial look. My freezer is ~70 years old and works pretty ok :D

That Big Chill looks neat, but not $4k neat

Update:

Home warranty folks came out and diagnosed it has clogged refringent lines and was low on refrigerant. Stated that they added 30lbs of refrigerant and it was fixed. I laughed, out of town right now, not much I could do except tell my sammich maker she was being bull****ted.

30lbs of refrigerant??? gawd damn...you must have a very large fridge. :lmao:

On a side note, why do you have a home warranty? Did it come with the house purchase?
