What's new

Red Max Blower WTF?

These use the Komatsu-Zenoah engines correct? Probably the fuel pump diaphragm in the carb. .50 cent part, they shit the bed on alky blend gas after a bit.

I know how a 2 stroke works
Tracker 60hp outboard, auto oiler has been giving us all kinds of issues, got that bypassed for diag purposes, got it to run. Then it back fired really hard and wont run at all, unless full throttle. I wonder if it blew the crank seal out.

Previous owner of my outboard said motor backfired bad right before it died.

If we got one day to commit any crime we wanted, my choice would be to mass murder all users of backpack blowers.

You are blowers. You blow. Blowing is your hobby. :flipoff2:

Well yes, but I am failing to see how an air leak below the jug would affect the running. Again it is a legit question, I have not really played with much 2 stroke stuff. Like on a 4 stroke it would just cause an oil leak if a crank seal goes, what is different here?

Crank seals leaking on a 2 stroke can cause problems.

from my limited experience at least.

New carb.... Looking at the pictures I 'get' what I am told now. Time to tear it down and prob never put it back together!

Before tearing down.
1. Check compression
2. Hit with go juice while revved up and bogging down and see what happens.
3. Use inline spark tester and observe spark while running.
4. Kill with fire.

Edit. How did you check spark? Weak sounds bad.

No adapter for the 10mm plug
Its already torn down beyond where I am willing to put back together to test
See above
Possibly
Visual while pulling start cord.

Honestly was looking for a quick easy fix, to fill in between projects that take more time than I have to dedicate on a week night, now that it is prob not that, I have little to interest in fucking with it.

I used a universal compression tester. Cheap and available.

Well, then that photo wasn't for you.
But this thread is not all about you :flipoff2:

 maybe it was to help . . . the OP

Ringdingdings are oddball for sure if you're used to OHV. Glad the pic helped

I would think you would be able to feel air exhausting out the carb if that was the case.
I am no 2 stroke wiz so take that with a grain.

Yep, if reeds are broken or tired / warped enough, it'll chuff out the carb.
