I am finally getting back to working on my 66 Mustang project.
I am in the stages of putting everything back together after taking it down to the body to fix rust, and paint it.
I had originally pulled some seats out of a Pontiac G6 to put in it, but theyve sat in my shop for about 8 years and have not stood up well, one of them has some faint JD green overspray where they werent covered well.
Anyway I never liked those seats much, so I am looking for something decent to put in there. I dont have time to go Junkyarding, and can swing something new.
Its been years since I looked for seats for a project, so I am coming up pretty empty on anything that doesnt look like it should go in a Honda Rice Racer.
Ive found a few on ebay, but they look cheap AF and are probably uncomfortable. Id like to be around $600 or so for the pair.

Edit-I like this one, but I think I will need something that reclines forward to get my kids into the backseat.

We ended up with some Scat by Procar seats in our 86.

aside from sitting up too high (I’m 6’3”) they seem decent enough.

can’t speak to the comfort as it will be March-April before it comes back out of the garage.

I already chopped the seat bases cause I was sitting way too high in the G6 seats. Ill check into those, thanks

Their customer service was excellent

Since tour probably going to LS swap it eventually as Henry Ford intended,:flipoff2:, might as well throw some GM seats in there as well like you had planned. :flipoff2:

Edit: do you have a tuning shop near you? If so they may sell seats and you can go sit in enough of them to get a comfortable fit for you. It takes so much BS strain out of driving if the seat fits you vs you trying to fit the seat.

Yea, its actually already LS swapped.

Without knowing what your goal for the car is, these are my go-to old car replacement bucket. IMO nothing looks worse in an old car than interior parts from a late model vehicle, high back seats included.

This is part of the reason Im going away from the G6 seat, they dont look right at all.
It will probably end up just being a town cruiser to get parts and stuff. My neck is already pretty jacked up from being rear ended without head rests so I wanted a seat with them, not really liking the looks of that for this car though.

How about aftermarket big truck seats. They are built to last and be comfortable with a bunch of adjustments even though those are all air operated you can run a small pump lots of cars adjustments use air pumps anyways. Lots of lowback options. You can get them without the air bases cheaper.

I find it weird sitting in anything named scat:laughing:

I just recovered my seats in my 68 Buick. Surprisingly easy with a $15 set of hogring pliers from amazon. You can restuff them with your own material or buy a foam kit to bring them back to like new. Thought it would a much harder job than it was.

Here are my results which I'm pretty happy with for first time.. hoping the the wrinkles from packing work out once warm weather comes, but I can always pull the covers back off and get the foam kit later if needed.

I put a set of Corbeau A-4's in my 69 Mustang. I am pretty tall, and I ordered them with a shaved base. They worked out great.
Another option is to buy the TMI sport seat foam and covers. They look like original seats, but have bigger bolsters. The down side is they are taller than the original seats.
