What's new

Re-start after 2 years sitting?

Hold accelerator to the floor while cranking for a few seconds, that will allow it to crank without firing. Just because its a 3.6, and they have known oiling/drainback issues, allowing it to circulate oil a few seconds before firing wouldn't hurt. I wouldn't be worried about lower end bearings like you mentioned, be more worried about oil up to the rockers on cylinder 5.

I started the stroker engine in my old Jeep for the first time in 2 years about a month ago. All I did was check all the fluids. Put a brand new optima battery in it. Started it and let it idle up to operating temperature. I’ve moved it around a few times since. Fires right up.

I get it
Doesn't take 2 weeks to put a jump box and turn a key
but if I get started I won’t stop, I know myself well.
I’ll wait till I can spend some time.
I’m still hunting a top and a door.
Found a door fairly close but the top I found (already my color) is 16 hrs away.
I can ship but they are demanding a commercial address w/loading dock that I don’t have reasonable access to.
I’m looking for something local that the owner will allow me to ship to.

I’m off next Sunday/Monday so I may get started then.

I’ve got a track bar bracket on order and I’ll need to look further into other parts that need replacing.

Bunch of ruthless mofos up in here.

Actually I sniffed it and it’s still good, fresh as the day I hung it up.
I have several because they provide shade for my ducks.

:flipoff2:🦆
Ok, you're cool.
Middle fangers :flipoff2:

Get a soft top. Fuck chasing a body colored hard top that may or may not be water tight now.

Correction, went back and looked at the video. Looks like I jump started, then once I knew it was a runner, then I got a new battery for it. Thought I remembered it cranking longer before it started.

You don't have ducks on your dash though.

I was being facetious about ducks and pine tree air fresheners.

Yall are hilarious though.

I truly appreciate the advice.

If yall want to poke fun because of my level of “off road” ya gunna have to try a bit harder.

My level is, a bought a new jeep in 17, spent a bunch of time and money making it some what trail worthy and still be a comfortable DD.

I GET IT.
Some folks here run 1/4 million $ bouncers or race trucks.
Some folks run 5000$ raisins that will go anywhere.

It’s a spectrum just like the assholes say gender is.
I’m just a regular Joe that falls somewhere on the spectrum.

I think I love you, can’t we all just get along?

Can’t gas pedal just be held on the floor to crank without starting? Thought there was thread on here about that. Or YouTube it

I started my buggy yesterday after sitting for a few months. Cranked it for a bit with the fuel pump off, turned on pump and it fired right up.

The WOT fuel cut works typically however it requires the TPS to be working properly. If the PCM doesn't know the motor is WOT you're potentially at WOT and dry start if it fires. Which is why I said pull the fuel pump relay. There's zero chance of fire up with the pump disabled.

My tj sat for 1.5 years during covid. I put a battery in and went on my way. Ethanol free, not stabilized. Fired right up, idled like shit until i bounced it off the limiter a few times. Fuel pump loses prime now is the worst thing that happened. The bees in the ac vent was the biggest problem.
