What sort of boots are y’all using. I have 3 pairs of various redwings that lace up, but I’d like to get something that is slip/pull on that I can use for quicker chores, getting firewood into the house, putting chickens away, etc. I don’t work in a warehouse anymore so I don’t need the crazy support, also the whole push for “barefoot” style shoes is nice for me, I like the wider toe box. Also, they need to be good for welding. I was looking at the square toe Justin at tractor supply, also looking at those Brunt Bolduc. I have a narrow foot (B width in redwing) but I wanna have a wide toe box. All my redwings seem to cram my feet since I work from home and wear slippers most days :homer:

Edit; Forgot to add, the need to be waterproof. My work will reimburse up to $150, so that’s cool.

Thanks guys

I caught some square safety toe Wolverine boots on clearance at tractor supply for silly cheap last year. I figured for $20 I couldn't really go wrong but turns out I genuinely like them. I'm not a fan of them on ladders but for weekend chores they're great

why would you voluntary wear safety toes??
cold, and they are uncomfortable

I finally purchased a set of over priced RedWings, and have went back to just plain-ol-boots three times, they last me a year, between I try the red wings again, they ****ing suck

get some of those old mad leather slippers that my Grandpa used to wear when I was a kid to bring in wood

I bought some rockrooster pull on steel toe boots as I got tired of buying Redwing once a year and I have been happy with them for the last 2 years.

Get a zip up combat boot. Easy on/off, lightweight and comfortable.

I wear Justin slip on steel toe for shop/mechanic work, but I’m not a fan of the fit. Had them for several years now. They discontinued the boot I have in steel toe. Only available in soft toe now. The replacement is square toe, which I don’t like. I’m planning to buy a set of HH to replace the wore out Justin’s.

**** slip on boots.

Specially if you tend to overpronate and have loose ligaments in your ankles from numerous sprains.

I tend to get 18 months out of safety toe Redwings. Worn everyday in a farm environment, and normally worn even when not at work. They comfy and broken in, like slipping on a pair of well worn leather gloves.
I tried slip on boots once. Got a real purty bruise and a puffy foot from it.

I'm not a giant fan of slip on boots but I ended up with a pair of Ariat engineer boots with a composit toe. They are wide enough in the toe and really comfortable, good for a full day plus. I bought them for motorcycle duty but they really came in handy when I got all swollen and was unable to bend over far enough to tie my other boots.

I got these over four years ago and they are going strong:

They are comfortable enough to wear 10+ hours a day and 'static' standing for 2+ hours. If you could find them in stock, I'd recommend. They were ~$150 in Dec 2019.

I bought these for work boots and wear them all the time now. Due for another boot expense and and will get another pair.

Years ago when I used to not need ankle support and orthotics, I could wear slip on boots and when I did I wore these:

Went through three or so pairs over a few years of hard work.

Now the only slip ons I use are Dunlop or Baffin rubber muck boots. Both are great.

I just use my lace up boots and don't tie them.
Or house slippers, which are dangerous as **** on ice.

Got one pair of double H slip ons, and one pair of Thorogood lace ups. The Thorogoods get 95% of the use.

And this. I've got 4 torn tendons in my right ankle, surgery pending for it. Slip on boots for work suck for me. I mainly wear the Double H's to those functions too casual for the full quill AB's.

I've worn Ariat groundhogs I think and they were comfy enough for slip ons.

Doc Martens Wellingtons

For a wellington boot these are comfy right out of the box, have some bolster padding on the inside for slightly better than none ankle support, and wear good.

My only complaint, and it applys to all doc martens I've ever been around, is the sole material is slicker than others. Meaning, if you are on a coated concrete floor that is wet with water or oil, you have less grip than you may be used to.

ETA: listed as water resistant, but I’ve been ankle deep and feet stayed dry.

I have a pair of Ariat Work model comp toe boots. Slip on, water proof and have some gore Tex in them. Great for all but outside on pavement in the summer. Just too hot.
I’ve gone snow wheeling in them and stayed dry. Held up well to my hobby shop adventures.

I dont have any slipon right now, but am thinking of either a muck boot or the Ridgecut Wellington from Tractor Supply. My wife and daughter used the ridgecut a few years ago and were happy with them.
I am around guys who spend a ton of time in the mud/dirt and I see a lot of muck style boots or the square toe pull on like these
Or these
